Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Do you have a favorite internet site to look for campgrounds while traveling?

I have a problem finding an easy site to navigate that helps find sites in particular areas. Thanks for any help.

If you are a map-oriented/visual person try out the technology being developed at RVFamilyFun.com. Double click on an area of the map to keep zooming in and watch the campgrounds suddenly appear. He's got over 12,000 USA campgrounds in there and is adding a way to also link directly to the RVParkReviews.com and RV.net review pages from his map.

The weakness of the site right now is that although the campground locations are coded into the map database, the number of reviews right now is minimal. Hence the mashuup to those other reviews sites to bring those other reviews directly to you. Also they will adding RV support places like CrackerBarrel, FlyingJs, campingworlds, etc., etc., and even coach, engine and chassis repair shops and our northern neighbor (Canada) locations are also in the works.

I’ve been fortunate to have met the owner, Craig McHugh. He really is trying to build a more unified RV campground resource using the latest mapping technology. The stuff still on the drawing board (the reason for the RVFamilyFun name) is knock your socks off stuff. A little early in the development, very functional for visual/geographical campground locations,  and they are making amazing progress. See any similarity in his map technology and RVDude's map technology?

Hi,

It's not an internet program, but we use the Trailer Life RV Parks & Campground Navigator CD's.
I think we got it from Workamper News for about $20. It has all the campgrounds and also gives ratings and pricing info. similar to whats printed in the TL directory. Will do routing, mileage, time and cost calculations also.

I would take their ratings with a grain of salt and also check RV Park Reviews for real life ratings from current users. We never go to a campground anymore without checking RVParkReviews ratings, and also add to their data base after we visit a campground.

Good luck,

Fred

I use Trailer Life online and their hardcopy book.  I've also found great campgrounds by keying in the name of the state followed by RV campgrounds and doing a search.  Amazing what you can find!

RV-DUDE is right on once again, that rvfamilyfun.com site is really great, talk about easy to use. And because the site is just getting underway we can get in on the ground floor as far as rating campgrounds. Right now it a little skimpy on the ratings but give it a year or two, with our help it should be  great resource. I would highly recommend it to anyone.  Express your opinon on the campgrounds you have visted so the rest of us can decide if we may want to go there.
