Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
We just arrived in San Diego the other day and needed a fillup badly. We had a difficult time finding anyone who even sold diesel and then ended up paying $3.259 I don't even think we paid that much during the summer in New England when fuel was at it's highest.
AAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGH !!!!!!!!!!!
Can you hear the scream from here???? The only thing worse, is that we're going to be here at least 3 weeks and are planning a lot of sightseeing.
I found 3 under $3.00 near your datastorm location.
I just checked Flying J and they showed $2.71 or so. Of course, problem is your tank is smaller than mine(88 gallons) and I don't have to fill as often.
The last time we were in CA, we gas shopped a lot and found a few stations that were reasonable.
Mike

Truly shopping around is the key. Our closest station selling diesel is $3.59 per gallon but, the station a mile further away is $2.85. It seems to me that urban stations charge more than stations along the interstate.
Thanks for the tips guys! We'll definitely be shopping around before we need another fillup.
The 50 or so miles of mountains we had to go over in getting here from Yuma really left us almost on empty. Four of them were listed in the Mountain Directory and had us somewhat concerned, but the truck pulled flawlessly, albeit it at 45 MPH, up the steepest grades. I dropped into 3rd on the way down and we stayed in the low 60's with only an occasional tap on the brakes.
Grant, Jo will write you off list and we'll try to meet when we get up your way.
We also found this out when we had to buy groceries in Blythe, Ca. Lots of taxes on groceries and more on plastic and cans. I think is a 10 cent refund on cans and plastic.
When picking up our mail in Ehernberg AZ while staying in Quartzsite we decided to just pick up a gallon of milk at the local store there. I was slightly suprised when they said $4 didn't buy there again.
RV sites can be pricey as well. There is at least one RV Park there in San Diego on Mission Bay that charges over $100 per night in high season and many along the coast that are over $60 per night.
We noticed that some of them were very pricey, but Jo managed to find a jewel of a camground, almost right in the city, it's called Santee Lakes Recreation Preserve. Here's the link.
We're paying the weekly rate and its about $33 a night. There are a number of stocked fishnig lakes, and the park is a nature preserve. Never seen so many different birds in my life.
Lovely park, and you drive outside and you're in the city. Would definitely recommend it if you're in the area.
