Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
I have noticed in a lot of RVs the shower is not seperated from the bedroom. For those of you who have this floorplan, How does that work out? My DW thinks she would prefer a seperated bathroom. I am withholding my preference until I hear a few experienced opinions...

Our shower is in the bedroom. That was my choice. I don't like a small closed in area for the shower. I kind of get claustrophobic when steam builds up in a small room. When we take our showers, we just close the bedroom door and we have a nice big room with privacy. When one is showering and getting ready, the other is doing something else in another part of the house.
Ours is also in the bedroom and like Linda said, you have a nice large room when you close the bedroom door. Only inconvenient thing is if one of you need to get up early and get a shower, as the other may be trying to sleep. In this case I try to take my shower the night before as to avoid waking my wife in the morning. I think this would mainly apply to fulltimers more than week-ender's.
Our shower is in the bedroom also. We have adapted in that I shower at night and the wife showers in the morning while I am starting breakfast. I agree that closing the bedroom door gives you a nice sized room to shower and get dressed in. I think that closing in the shower would really limit that space, but maybe there is some innovative floor plan out there that could give you both advantages. If you need it I hope you find it.

In our fifth wheel our shower is in the bedroom, but there is a pocket sliding door you can close. We did have a pull behind 2005 trailer that had its own bathroom with door at one time. I have seen some models with bathroom in the back and was not in the bedroom, but off an adjoining bedroom. There are so many makes and models out there depending on what one wants and needs.
Our fifthwheel has a walk through bathroom that is on the same level as the bedroom. We have sliding pocket doors between the bathroom and bedroom and like that arrangement very much. The bathroom has a water closet and a washer/dryer closet on one side with the vanity and shower on the other. This arrangement provides for plenty of bathroom space. We prefer this arrangement to the ones with the shower in the bedroom.

Our shower is also in the bedroom. In fact, I think the vast majority of 5th wheels are designed that way. Usually you don't get a separate bathroom until the rig gets quite long, like 38-40'. We do have an accordian door that, when closed would separate the shower and sink from the rest of the bedroom. We also have the pocket door that separates the bedroom/bathroom areas from the rest of the rig. But we have never used either for just the two of us, only when the grandkids come to visit.
Even without using those doors, if one is in the shower or bedroom, and the other is in living room or kitchen, unless you stand in the doorway gaping, you're not in full view.
That said, we never considered this design an issue. As fulltimers, together 24/7, there's very little privacy, nor did we have the expectation of any. You have to be comfortable with that. And we are. In fact, in our stick condo, we removed the bathroom door to the master bath inside our master bedroom because the placement of the door was inconvenient to accessing the linen/toiletry closet. I know we're unusual in that last item, (I'm sure you're all thinking, "boy are they weird"), but didn't think we were unusual in our lack of need for shower separation.

If you're not getting older...........you're dead!
It's an individual thing so it's nice to have a choice. Our motorhome has a splt bathroom between the living area and the bedroom. There are pocket doors to close it off from the living and bedroom areas. We like that arrangement.
Our Titanium has the bathroom facilities on the second level with a separate water closet, then up a step into the bedroom. We liked the fact that we could close the bedroom off completely from all bathroom facilities.
That may be what we are looking for, I will have to google Titanium and see if I can look at some good pics. Is the Titanium well insulated?

I too, have been looking at different trailers that have a separate bathroom, there are many, one is the Bighorn by Heartland model 3670RL, another brand is the Grand Junction by Thor, models 335TRL,34QRE,34TRG and 35TMS. Another is the Regal by Fleetwood model 365BSQS and Doubletree has one the 36SB3 Moblie Suite. If money isn't a problem I'd go in a heartbeat to the Doubletree it has some really great features. Hope this helps a little has it only tends to confuse me more as to what we want. Niles & Deb

We have a motorhome, and in motorhomes separate bathrooms are fairly common, making this a personal choice. When we were looking at MH's, there was no doubt in our mind that the split bath with separate toilet area was exactly what we were looking for. That was our definite preference. However, we've been told that Winnebago's most popular model is the 35U, which has the separate, fully enclosed bathroom. I can't see any reason for this preference, but I know that is a personal opinion, and that many, many folks disagree.
Wherever the shower is it's going to be very hard for me to get use to having ONLY a shower. I've always been a "bubble bath" person...LOVE it at the end of a day!!! We're looking at Newmar MHs and the newer ones do not have a tub...not even a little one!!! Some of the pre-owned ones we look at have little ones where ones chin would rest on their knees. I'm sure I could have a Prevost custom built with a jet tub in it, eh?????? Just kidding folks...that type of MH is DEFINITELY not in the budget. My husband and I have pretty much decided that we'd like 2 sinks though...one in with the toilet and one in the bedroom or by the shower. Someone told us to get into the shower and make sure you can bend over and pick up something dropped without your...you know what...opening up the shower stall door. HMMMMM good words of advice.

I am with you on that one!!! ... Besides possibly "mooning" my wife, I might get the floor wet too.

Before we bought our fifth wheel we did an inordinate amount of searching and going to shows (01 - 06) to see how the differing floor plans would work for us. we chose the open or walk thru bathroom with a separate room for the w/d and water closet (potty) because the space seemed to be used better and the areas were more open and accessible. After saying that a sliding (pocket) door on one end and a accordion door to close off the bedroom area was pretty much deemed by us to be a requirement, to be the best use of space and allow for the situations where we have guests either just visiting for the day or staying with us for several.

LOL!!! I thought I was being very organized in my examination of rvs. I've pretended I'm making the bed and cooking in the kitchen - looking where I'd put the coffee maker etc., but now I'll close the shower door and bend down too. I learn something every time I'm on this website!
Our coach has the shower in the bedroom area and a private toilet room. We used a shower rod to hang a nice fabric shower liner that we use to separate the shower from the bedroom. That gives us a little more privacy and allows us to keep the shower warmer and not steam up the bedroom area.
Our first 5th wheel had a walk thru bath, and its part of the reason we traded it in. We just didn't like the bathroom being part of the bedroom. our Mobile Suites has a side aisle bath, so its all in one room. Much nicer when we have company, too. You lose some roominess, but my shower is no longer right next to my bed. I am much happier,
Our 5th Wheel has a Side Bath that is separate from the Bedroom. We looked for this layout since I still work fulltime as we travel the Southeast part of the country. I get up early and use the bathroom and shower while DW sleeps in. (She does not work) Our Bathroom has a nice layout, lots of storage and plenty of room for us.
As you can see from all the previous posts, something different for everyone's lifestyle, needs and wants.
I didn't like the shower and sink in the bedroom on older 5th wheels and was glad to see the newer started
putting in separate bathrooms. When we decided this year to buy a fifth wheel we wanted to buy used so we could pay cash.
The 5th wheel we bought was a 2007 Montana 3500rl the shower and sink are in a short hall going the bedroom and can be closed off from the bedroom and living area.
I think the layout will work out for us before the living room is separate from the kitchen too.
