Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.


We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Floorplan Feedback - Rear Entertainment Centers?

Hi Everyone,


We are in the process of buying our first 5th wheel!  Excitement abounds!  But....there are 2 models we are looking at the Montana Mountaineer 336RLT and the 344RET, one has an entertainment center that takes up part of the back wall (there are two windows on either side), the other has a large back window with the recliners.  Since it's winter weather up here in Chicago right now it's hard to tell if the rear entertainment center will block too much of the natural light from outside.  Does anyone have any experience or opinions about this?

We have the large rear window with recliners in the back and the entertainment center is on the side wall. While the window lets lots of light in it is a cold wall in the winter. Our windows are not dual pane.

Thanks for the feedback - we didn't think about that, but that is a great point.  I really like the view out the back window, but the floorplan seems to work a bit better for us with the entertainment center in the back - I'm just worried about it being too dark.  I guess I can always plug in an extra lamp.

We also have the large rear window but we do have the dual pane windows.  We love our big picture window especially when we are backed up to a lake or river.  I wouldn't trade it for anything.  But you know how floorplans are, it is truly personal opinion.


Hopefully someone with a rear entertainment center will comment.  I wonder how the electronics fare from all the movement while traveling down the road.

Just something we noticed about rear entertainment centers other than loosing the rear window which our choice.   How easy is it to see the big screen?  Several units we have visited have a beautiful entertainment center that requires moving furniture out into the middle of the floor so that you can watch TV.  Just a thought.


We love our big bay windows looking away from the road and other RV's as often as possible.  Those lakes, rivers, streams, forests, and meadows are better than TV with our early morning coffee.

Thanks for all the good feedback.  A lot of things to take into consideration. 


As I looked at the campgrounds and campground pictures on Howard and Linda's website.  I noticed that the view always seemed to be from the back and the curbside windows.  I'd hate to lose that full view.  Ah, the trouble of deciding.  My husband is leaning one way and I'm leaning the other - also part of the trouble .  I'll let you know what we decide.

I'm with most of the folks here, even though it is a source of cold the view more than makes up for it. Unless you are backed into a spot and it gives you a birds eye view of the neighbors behind you.

We LOVE our big back window and wouldnt give it up for anything. We can pk in several lake places where it faces the lakes. It is wonderful in our fiver to come down from the bedroom in the mornings grab your coffee and sit in our comfy lounge chairs and look out the that window.


Another place is Monument Valley and we had a place there where the window faced 2 of the mounments and just what a framed picture our big back window made there.  We got the morning sunrise and sunsets on the rock mounment...what a backyard that was. southwestjudy & Bob & 2blackdogs

We also have the large rear window and also have the bayside windows.  We Love the views out West in the summer months try Montana, Arizona, Wyoming, South Dakota, wouldn't trade our windows for a entertainment center.   We have a 32 inch HDTV and two Lazy Boy recliners, one leather and one that is a heated massage chair.  In the rear we have a Glider rocker chair.   But it's just what we like.   Looking at the Colorado Rockies in July with  Snow covered peaks.   It's just awesome.....Good Luck on your choice......GBY....

Blocking the veiw no more. Back in 2002 I took my friends to Bar Harbour Maine. We stayed at a campground (KOA) on the Western Bay. We only had one medium sized window curbside. I wished I could wake up and look at that beautiful ocean bay from inside. With the awning out my curbside veiw was partially blocked. It was always windy, and even in August early mornings were cool. So, it was look at my partial view from inside or put the coat on and put up with the wind, which I did because I live for the nature. I got rid of that RV and now have a motor home with a huge front picture window and the entertainment center is on the side which works well. Have you checked Jayco or Titanium 5th wheels? Keep seaching, that floor plan that will suit both your needs is out there. Check manufacturers online sites to look at floorplans. By the way I have a Winnebago, if your into motorhomes check them out @ winnebagoind.com. Happy Camping!

We opted for the dual pane rear windows and the tv on the side, Tossed the recliners (well one of them and gave the birds a window seat in the rear as well. The flat screen is centered directly across from the couch so we tend to sit together more now
