Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
My wife, Carol, and I are starting our full time adventure on October 30th this year. We currently live in Wenatchee, WA. We have owned numerious rv's over the past 37 years. We went to the Southwest for 2 months last year and liked the life style so well we decided to go full timing. We have a 2007 35 CKQG NuWa Champagne 5th wheel and are pulling it with a 2006 GMC extended cab 3500 with a durmax/allison.
We are headed to Borego Springs until February 1st, will be spending February somewhere in AZ and then going to Mexico on a 23 day Copper Canyon tour. After that who knows.
Congratulations on the start of your new life! And what a wonderful place to start...in Borrego Springs. Hope there's been enough rain for you to see a marvelous flower display. It's a funky little town and lots of great scenery...three cheers for you :)

It would be of interest to provide an evaluation of the Copper Canyon trip. We have heard some "tales" of kids throwing rocks at the RVs traveling slow on the train. Please let us know the "Rest Of The Story".

WOW! Kids throwing rocks at RV's on the train! That would not be good. We have considered taking one of these train trips in the future and I never even considered that as being an issue but now that it is in open air it only makes sense.
I will let everyone know our experiences on the trip. I can already tell you one thing the tour companies don't mention and that's the cost of insurance. I knew we would need to get mexican liability insurance for the trip. However, I have found that most US insurance stops anywhere from the border to a maximum of 50 miles south of the border. So I had to get mexican insurance to cover physical damage, thieft, etc. as well as liability. I checked with GMAC as they have a mexican insurance dept., the tour company, and my insurance agent. I ended up with GE insurance for a cost of $737.00. This was for six months as it was the cheapest option. My total coverage for my pickup and 5th wheel was for $125,000. I can't imagane what it must cost for an expensive motothome. I hope the trip is worth the cost.
