Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Back on the 3rd the daily journal said that you where looking to replace your current love seat with 2 recliners and I am curious about why. You have only been on the road for a year has the current furniture worn that much all ready. Also, doesn’t the Cambridge already have two recliners? Why not get another love seat?
I guess the journal entry was a bit confusing. We are looking to replace the sofa bed loveseat with a just a loveseat (not a sofa bed) or a chair and ottoman combination. We do already have two La-z-boy recliners that we purchased soon after getting the Cambridge. We did not like the ones that came with it.
The problem with our loveseat is that it is breaking down in the center. So when you sit on either end of the loveseat you fall into the middle. It is really getting on my nerves.
Judy and I ordered our fifthwheel without the furniture (Sofa, Chairs, or Mattress) and purchased our own. This is our third coach so we knew we didn't want the manufacturer's "stuff". People negotiating on a new unit be advised that some manufacturers will give you credit for the furniture (like everything - it's negotiable). We purchased a leather love seat, Lazy Boy recliners, and a Spring Air Mattress. Be careful about the sizes, however, because not everything will fit through the door. That is one advantage to Lazy Boy - the backs lift off so you can handle the basis and then reinstall the backs once inside.

I'm just wondering, when you replace furniture that came in your RV with new furniture, is this something that anyone can do? Isn't the furniture that comes in your RV bolted down to the floor? So then you unbolt it and replace with what you go out and buy, if it fits and you can get it thru the door? Then do you have to secure/bolt down the new stuff like the recliners and sofa to the floor? If yes, isn't it hard to find furniture that has something on the bottom of it to bolt down to a floor?
We removed our short sofa and replaced it with a small computer cabinet and a flexsteel recliner/swivel rocker. We also replaced the extra chair with a recliner. Now we have two comfy recliner/swivel rockers and our 2 front chairs that turn inward; no sofa. The chairs are bolted down during travel with a bolt/bracket from a Winnebago parts store. We purchased the chairs through an RV store in Riverside CA where we picked the upholstery. They removed the sofa (we gave it to our kids) and put the chairs in. We have a 32' Class A Rexhall and are very comfy in our chairs :)

Our swivel rocker recliners that came with the rig were not bolted to the floor but there were latches attached to the floor so you could fasten the chair secure when traveling. When we replaced our chairs with recliners that did not have the swivel option, we removed the latches because they kept getting in the way when we would turn the chairs for traveling. I think the latches were needed for the other chairs because they were swivel. We have not had a problem not securing the current chairs. Our sofa was never fastened to the floor. It is extremely heavy and does not move easily. The only thing that is fastened to the floor now is our dinette table.
The furniture may not be bolted, but only have a small (L) bracket with a few wood scews on the legs on each side of the couch as ours had...I had no problem removing. The recliners were not secured into the floor. They have straps to hold in place when traveling. Dining table also had the same (L) brackets and screws.
