Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
After five months of trying to sell our house on our own, we went with a realtor a week ago. In only six days and three showing, we have a contract. We close the 27th of Sept, so we have much to do.None the least of which we now can/must earnestly search for a fifth wheel and truck.

We have gone FULL TIME. We are very BLESSED. My wonderful Wife Delaine always says if it's suppose to happen it will. We only kept some pictures and some family gifts. We gave a very large Truck load to the Salvation Army and Good will..... The rest was sold $12,000 dollars in about 12 hours. Life is Good, we are ready for the rest of our Love Story to happen. Congratulations!!! As a retired Realtor it usually does work better to use a Realtor but as a retired Realtor I don't even want to have that debate!! But since your a powered by the holy ghost, he knew you were ready! Are you the one that lives in Goshen, KY or is that someone else. We are in Louisville and getting ready to put our house on the market in two weeks. We have been shopping for a MH and if a possibility of selling that quick we better shop quicker. We're in 4200 sq. ft.so we need a REALLY big sale of stuff!!! We have already furnished our daughters homes, so with some precious antiques that they will keep for us, it all has to go. Have a fabulous time out there and we will be waiting to hear all your fun stories of getting started! WAY TO GO!!!
Wow, how fun is this. Delaine and Lindy and powered by the holy ghost both ready!! Congrats to you to, now I am REALLY getting itchy feet! Good luck out there and I may be filling up that Salvation Army truck too!
How excited we are for ya'all!!! We are right behing you...just have some things to do on the house before putting it on the market. Would like to ask everyone a very important question...wow, it is a big one for us... It is about all of our "junk" that we have aquired in 40 years... should we have a yard sale, or do you think getting a auctioneer would be better? Have heard horror stories about yard sales. Have thousands of books, it seems... yard things, and everything. I look at the rooms and almost have heart failure, but our dream of going full time pulls us on. Any advice would be so appreciated. Thank you all

Congrats on the sale of your house. My husband and I have been fulltiming now for almost a year. We did our research for about a year before putting our house on the market. Our house sold in 5 days and believe it or not, we were ready. We had a plan in case it sold before our 5th wheel was ready. There was only a 2 week layover. Anyway, we have never looked back. Love being in our rig, love not having to cut grass, love not having to pay homeowners, love having more freetime, JUST LOVE IT!!!!!
I'm sure that you will be the same way as soon as you decide on your truck and trailer.
Reply to DJ Wannabees. We are the ones in Goshen. Our house will be listed this week and hopefully we will have good news soon. Our daughter is a realtor/broker and I think she is also pretty happy we are finally listing. House will be empty when we leave in 3 days !!!!!! We didn't sell anything. Gave it all away. Keeping some furniture and personal items. There are so many worthy charities and people around here. God has blessed our lives so much, we just wanted to give and it has been so much fun !!!!!!!!

I never thought the power of this post would be so incredible. Must be the Ora of the founder and his leader....
Yes we listed our house and the thing sold before the first add got into the paper. Close on the 25th. So much to do so little time and somewhere in there I have to go back to work..... Then bid a job in Northern TX through the holidays. Then to Galveston Island for the winter. We are officially becoming working fulltimers...... only 13 yrs to retirement here but that is OK cause I can still live life on a much less stressfull simpler way. Maybe I can miss the bypass surgery by the time I'm 55 like the rest of my co-workers. Technology is so cool I am writing this all the while riding with my trusty co-pilot down I-90 in the middle of SD. Using my aircard from Verizon. Taking a trailer load back to our family for safe keeping and say our goodbyes till next summer.
Thanks AL for helping spread the power!!!

We are 3 years away from becoming full-timers, but have decided to sell everything ourselves. Where we live the auctioneers take 30% and they price it to sell. We can price it to sell and keep 100%. This past month we have been using eBay and Craig's list Chicago. We have done extremeley well just getting rid of stuff we no longer need/want/use. If you have the energy and time and organizational skills and lots and lots of tables I encourage you to sell your own stuff.

I think we will go the auction route. When my mother had to go to assisted living, we sold everything my sister and I did not want thur an auction. They came over and organized everthing, hauled everything out of the basement and it was 95% gone in one evening auction. They charged 15%. This was back about 7 years ago so maybe the rates have gone up here as well.
Sold our home ourselves within a couple of wks time as it was all handcrafted and a Southwest home. Did the garage sales ourselves and did very well also as we were COLLECTORS of southwest Native American Indian pottery, photos and paintings of the southwest...most we sold but stored what we could not part with. Furniture will be sold this wkend and house will be open to all...so things can be done by yourselves. House closing end of Sept.
We to are in the same boat. We have a contract and close on the house Oct 2nd. We have just had our 3rd and final moving/garage sale. The final sale didn't go as well as the first 2 but we have gotten rid of approx 85% of our "stuff". The rest goes to auction and charity next week.
We are heading to the Hershey PA RV show tomorrow. I guess the worst part is that we can't purchase our full-time rig till we have the funds from the house. But being debt free is important to us.
Good Luck Everyone and hope to see you on the road!

How exciting, all of these new fulltimers. We closed on our house on Aug 1st and are still treading water for another month. We are living in the fifthwheel and with the last day of work being October 13th. Then it's onto Rainbow Park to finalize our residency in Texas. There sure seems to be a lot of us for the class of 2006 - life is good and this is a great forum. We are making friends on line that we'll bump into one soon as we are traveling. We need to get "RV-Dreams" pins and stickers to help identify one another.

We have not listed our condo yet. We keep hearing how soft the real estate market is here in southwest Florida so we are trying to decide if now is the time. With the winter season starting soon, this is the best time of the year to sell. However, prices have come way down from a year ago, but still well above what we paid in 2001. Our realtor and former neighbor is out of town so will decide after talking to her.
