Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.


We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

GFCI in 2008 Mobile Suites

Yesterday, there was a problem with the power pole at our campsite. It fried itself & the maintenance guy had to install a new outlet. So we now have power again, but not all of our outlets are working.  The microwave won't come on & none of the outlets in the bedroom work.
We have a GFCI in the panel, which we reset. Could there be another GFCI somewhere that needs to be reset? We can't find any actual outlets that have a GFCI reset on them.
Would really appreciate any suggestions on how to troubleshoot this ourselves.  Thanks!

In our Mobile Suites the microwave is on a separate AC circuit with it’s own breaker in the AC breaker box. The bedroom has a DC circuit for the lights with is own fuse in the DC fuse box and an AC circuit for the outlets with it’s on breaker. I have found that I can’t just turn on a tripped breaker, I have to turn it off and the on to reset it. By the way these are not GFI outlets.

Sounds like you might only have one leg of 50AMP hooked up. If the maintenance guy does not understand 50AMP, he might have not fixed it correctly.

Hopefully this “maintenance” guy knew what he/she was doing. Did you use your electric testers before plugging back in?

ROPeach, bjoyce, LarryW21 thanks to all of you for your suggestions! My husband has taken all suggestions & has continued troubleshooting. So far, he's gotten everything working EXCEPT the microwave. There is power to the outlet for the microwave but the microwave itself won't come on. Thinking the next thing is to see if there's a fuse in the microwave?
Don't know where that might be, I think I'll do a separate post about it. Thanks again for your help!

Not saying this will work but try disconnecting both the electric and the batteries. This may reset everything. In our Landmark I’ve had to do that a couple of times over the past couple of years to get the microwave to power back up. It has something to do with our energy management system.

We have a 2010 Mobile Suites, with the GE Profile / Convection oven combo. If you have the same unit in your 2008 MS there are actually 2 fuses. We had to remove the molding around the unit, then totally pull the unit out to trouble shoot and fix it. Fuse cost $0.79, 5 hours of research and labor to actually fix it and of course the fuse that was blown was the one hardest to get to inside top back of the unit.
