Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
The debate between a 5th wheel or a Class A has gone on for ever and will probably go on forever more but now that we have full-timed in 2 different Class A's for over 6 years and have now switched to a 5th wheel for the last 6 months we thought we would do a blog post on how we feel about he two. In case you are interested here is a link. And if the link is not clickable you could always click on our blog link in our signature below.
Dave,
Nice write-up and comparison. I do think some of your comments, as you stated, are about getting use to the new RV (i.e., which would likely happen moving from a Fifth-wheel to a Class A or a Class A to a Class A, etc.) -- for example, we can't imaging being without the kitchen island in our NH (i.e., it is our primary food prep and staging area), but that is also what we are use to.
Regarding one of your first comparisons, regarding the ride/comfort of the RAM 5500 ... even before we picked up our NH, we purchased Gel Seat Cushions for the front driver and passenger seat of the RAM 5500. At the time we were switching from driving sedans to driving the RAM 5500, with its noticeably stiffer ride. We still use the gel seat cushions!

Yup, it's all a matter of getting used to some of the things until they become the norm. We have a couple gel pads we used to use on the Harley, may need to dig them out. BUT Diane had a electric footrest on her big old soft seat in the motorhome she was able to put out as we went down the road LOL, I think she misses stretching her legs out more than anything.
