Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Here to learn as we are thinking about this life change in 2-3 years. want to soak up as much knowledge as possible to help us make the the decision. We are not old enough to retire (I am 49 yoa) yet so we will be working. So I may not post a lot yet but I will be digesting all that I can. Thanks.
Well you're at the right place. Most folks here seem to be retired but they have a great deal of GOOD information. Well you be taking your current jobs on the road or looking for something new?
WE have been thinking about going full time for 5 or 6 years. Almost there. Hubby retires at the end of October and I retire in December and then we will hit the road. Can't wait.

my biggest "fear" for this will be income. I have always had a job in law enforcement or a factory. We are pretty frugal when we want to be (or the children allow us to be, lol). Well the wife and I are frugal. I will not be able to receive any of my retirement until 60 which is 11 years away and it will not be enough to sustain us. So I have been researching ways to make money in this lifestyle.
Howard and Linda have some good advice here. There are also some good resources for making money on the road on the Internet. A couple that come to mind are Camille Attell at morethanawheelin.com and Liz Wilcox at virtualcampground.com. Also, check out Full Time Freedom Week at fulltimefreedomweek.com. If you search for making money while rving on your search engine of choice there will be a plethora of stuff come up. Some good some not so good.
Now having said that, you may want to see if you can take your current job skills and turn them into a virtual job, maybe even with your current employer. Personally I have some rental property that I intend to manage from the road. While I will have to have someone else do the showings and perform the maintenance I can do the rest of it from a computer on an Internet connection.
I would also maybe try to transition into your "road" jobs before you go full time just to make sure it will work. Good luck!
Welcome to forum ... I learned a lot when we were first starting out and this was my "go to" source. Use the search feature. When you read threads, pay attention to the dates ... some are old (years old) so responding to them doesn't do much good. The info in those old threads is still good stuff, just don't try to revive it buy adding comments. Have fun, it's A LOT to know. Feel free to ask questions by starting a new thread ... just as you did here. Good Luck.

Many RV park owners do well but their employees are mostly minimum wage. “Online” jobs for good money are an illusion IMO. By working hard and smart for the next eleven years you could make good money and save a bundle. Then hit the road.

Welcome to this great forum! I was a LEO for 34 years. Howard has some great ideas about making money while full timing. Most work camping jobs don't pay, just furnish a free site. Some do, so read, read, read and maybe you'll get lucky to find something that does both.
If a person has some income then workamping is an easy way to stretch your budget by working a few hours a week for your site and utilities. I recommend you join workamper.com...read the ads...you will find many job opportunities in just about any location you desire with varying expectations.
