Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
We are not new to RVing as have had a few already, but we are moving up to a custom built Power House coach and plan on being on the road a LOT more frequently than in the past. We will be traveling with our animal family - a 3 year old English Lab, and 21 month old (148lb) Great Dane and our 29 year old African Grey parrot. We have traveled with the dogs before, but plan on having our parrot join us going forward, so will be looking out for any and all opportunities to figure out the safest way to accomplish this.
Have read through many posts and there is a lot of great advice out there - looking forward to a long and educational time with all fellow RVer's!

The biggest issue I see with traveling with any pet is making sure the coach is at a comfortable temperature all of the time and the waste issue. In the case of parrots maybe not so much but dogs have to be walked in a regular basis. This is why I have elected to find a new home for my 18 1/2 year old cat before we go on the road in a few months. h Maybe you should get an eye patch and be the neighborhood pirate. Just a thought.
Thanks!!! Temperature was a big concern with the parrot - that is why we have equipped our coach with a full, automatic climate control that will operate the air conditioner or heat as needed (and will turn on the generator to do so if no power) so we will have a constant temperature.

Keep us posted on how traveling with the Parrot goes.My wife has assumed we would have to find a new home for our 15 year old African Grey when we go full time in the next year or so.
Currently our menagerie includes three dogs, a cat, two birds, an aquarium and a grandson.Something is going to have to give: the aquarium or the grandson?? 😊

Maybe you could make one of those biosphere aquariums out of tide pool animals so they'd feel right at home with the sloshing. Just thinking too much probably.
