Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.


We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Maybe a little silly to celebrate in the real world, but in RV land something to share.

I'd like to pass along some of our experience, especially the re orienting of our new throne.

About 24hrs ago I stepped on the foot pedal and something snapped off. The valve won't open, fortunately it was liquid waste and our valve seal hadn't been fully sealing lately. 

We are at an RV park, so facilities were available. We had a great experience with a mobile tech in the area a few months ago so I gave him a call. He encouraged me to replace it myself with the same model, it's just two floor bolts and a water connection.

I had previously, in a former life, replaced a residential toilet. We purchased our rig used and a prior owner had already replaced the toilet, a nice ceramic model. That wasn't readily available so with the guidance of a full time RVer who happened to be working at the local CW, I came home with a Dometic 320 high profile unit. One of the selling points was the seal can be replaced without taking apart the whole toilet. Once I removed the broken unit I came to realize it had been screwed into the floor, not attached to the flange. Also, the flange was attached to the floor in a way that won't allow for the new unit to attach for an easy water connection. At 2pm I contacted our service tech as I knew a water connection mod was something I would need him for, could he come today?

Yes, he arrived at just after 7pm and was gone before 8. 

Here's the best part, our toilet has its own room and the old one had one side close to the wall. The new one is set in the corner at 45 degrees from the walls, plenty of leg room on Both sides.

As I have come to find in life one day's Oh s**t can be the next day's Wow that's better.

We had a similar incident in which the valve wouldn't open, however, I was able to figure out what was wrong with the mechanisms and get it fixed.

Sadly, I don't remember exactly what it was that I replaced.

We have the "luxury" of having a side bathroom unit, so that gives me LOTS of room in the bathroom to work on toilet valve issues.
