Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

New here

My name is Mark, and my wifes name is Annette (Annie) we are getting ready to start a full time adventure, we are in the process of selling our homes, and getting our stuff ready for a garage sale, we are going to give it a try, we have been across the states 2 1/2 times, we have children in North Carolina, were excited but also apprehensive, my wife has concerns about not having a home base to where we can go, me not so much, I said we can dock anywhere

Welcome Mark. Sounds like you are a few steps ahead of us but not much that it really matters. One of the upsides of this mobile lifestyle is you are not tied to a certain area. If you are tied to NC because of family, you can always return there, or possibly look around for a piece of property nearby that you can call a homebase. Doesn't have to be a traditional home either. You get to choose.

We have family spread all over the place and one of the things we will be eyeing as we travel is locations that we can... if we decide... to plop ourselves down upon if or when we decide to exit this lifestyle. Heck, we haven't even hit the road and we are mulling future options. Gotta stay flexible. I get the desire for "roots" or homebase... As you travel you may find some place you never thought of... keep an open mind.

we do not want to keep the home, we just bought it last year, we decided to buy after decades at our home we just sold, we can always buy something else if we chose after traveling for a while, we know we like traveling, it is the womens nesting thing I believe, and biggarview, we have family in california and North Carolina, not strung all over, just on both ends of the country, we have a thirty foot motorhome, and we will use it for our break in period before we decide if it is right thing for us, if it is then we will look for a bigger MH , thanks for the replys

Welcome, I don't have much to say about the living part of it as, like you, I'm in the downsizing and selling mode. Good luck on your adventure and keep us posted.

Welcome Hamrs 62. Like you, I have a son in NC (Gastonia) and a sister in law in CA (Camarillo). We also have 2 SILs in FLA. At the end of the month, we will be visiting them first after leaving the New Orleans area, before heading to NC. I once lived in Waynesville, NC so it feels like going back home every time I visit the state. The first of the year we divested ourselves of all our excess baggage and moved into our older 36ft class A. It's been a dream come true so far. It is really important your DW, Annie, shares your goals and quest for adventure. I am fortunate in that my DW, Cindy, took to the FT lifestyle like a duck to water, not once looking back or regretting our decision. For me, getting rid of everything was like the burning our bridges, the only place to go now is forward with the new life we have chosen. Remember the lesson of the bible, when Lot's wife looked back. Look what it got her. Got salt?

Look forward to seeing you down the road.

Chip
