Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.


We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

 hi to y’all out there wherever you are. Hopefully it’s where you want to be. My husband and I are getting ready to go full time in a 5th wheel and we have a new duramax diesel 2500HD Chevy 3/4 ton with all the trailer towing upgrades. What is the best 4 season 5th wheel, under 30 ft. now days? I have been hearing that the arctic fox is having a lot of problems with quality control. What other brands are out there for full time living under 30 ft that are any good anymore? So many are so cheaply built these days. we would like to talk to other people and hear about their experiences. I know everyone has his or her own preferences, but we would appreciate any advise or opinions. Hope to talk to y’all soon.

Welcome aboard!

In my opinion, Arctic Fox is still one of the best. You want to stay with 10,000 lbs. GVWR or under on the fifth wheel with a 3/4-ton truck, though. You might also consider looking into attending one of the Escapees RV Club boot camps to get up to speed on the technical aspects of RVs and all of their systems. They are a wonderful resource for that kind of thing. They also provide our legal domicile and mail forwarding services.

thanks for welcoming us. I think my font size might need adjusting. Bear with me. Last road trip made to Boise, my phone imploded and now I'm trying to learn this new phone and a new trucks gadgets all at one time

 I will check into the arctic fox a little more. Thanks. How do I find out about "bootcamps ", where, when etc

 I guess it's on this site somewhere

Welcome aboard. Can't really recommend a sub 30' 5er as all the ones we're looking at are 40' ish. I will say this, the higher end models (relatively speaking) will typically not be under 35' but there are a few exceptions.  Higher end usually means higher weight which could be an issue for a 2500 series truck. It will all depend on your budget. I've read positive things about Arctic Fox in the past... nothing recent.

biggrinI see from your avatar you have what looks like at least 4 GS. Are you sure there will be room for 2 humans and 4 or more large fur babies in a 30' or shorter 5er trailer? confuse. (could be you breed them and are not taking that many with you) Not saying it can't work, to each his or her own. There is no wrong way to RV.smile

Could you be more specific?  Which manufacturer do you think is the best quality now says? You have so much more experience and knowledge about them, being on the road for so long. And I know veterans. They dont give you no B.S.😉

Sorry, we're not on the road yetcry... been on this forum for pushing 6 years now. You pick up a few things LOL.wink We have a tentative start of Aug 2019 but we've run into some family matters that could delay that date.

Who's the best all depends on who's telling you that. DRV is common viewed as high end and I believe they still have a 32' model. New Horizons also has a 32' but both and especially the NH are not cheap and both are heavy trailers that will challenge your 2500 duramax and I wouldn't recommend that combo. More specific recommendations would require more info about your needs and wants and probably most important... your budget. In any case.... you'll get as many opinions as there are Rvers to give them.biggrin Other than that, I'm still a newb but I've had plenty of mentoring from the friendly folks here abouts.

I’m finding out, the hard way, that we probably should have bought a 1 ton for full timing it. But I’m sure we want something under 30feet, as we will be boondocking a lot. And thank you for noticing our fur babies. We used to breed long hair GS dogs. I know.... it’s a ”fault” but they are gorgeous. And smart! And loyal! And I could go on.....we Never have a problem traveling with them. We all find a spot. LOL! Thanks again for the info and the welcome.
