Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Howdy folks! My wife and I are in the process of listing our house, buying our first RV, and roaming the country for a year before our daughter starts kindergarten next year. We are VERY fortunate in that my wife works for a health and happiness company and can work from anywhere, as a petroleum geologist my employer will allow me to take 12 months off and keep full medical benefits, and we're both just crazy enough to do this while we have a small window of opportunity to show our daughter the country before we get locked into a school schedule for the next 13 years.
Are we beyond excited? Uh, yes! We have a lot to do in the next few months as we plan to hit the road in early July. We plan to have our house listed by early April to make sure the house is gone before we hit the road and we're actively looking for our ride. I've been mainly searching (nationwide) for a Tiffin Phaeton 40QKH, Tiffin Allegra Red 38QBA, or similar model.
We're looking forward to meeting many of you on the road as we start our trip in Texas and plan to roam from Maine, to Seattle, to Southern California, and Key West, hitting memories in between along the way!
Winnebago TT 2101DS & 2020 Silverado LTZ Z71. 300 watts WindyNation solar w/MPPT, 2 Trojan T-125s. TALL flag pole. Prefer USFS, COE, BLM, USF&WS, NPS, TVA, state/county camps. 14 year Army vet-11B40 then 11A - old MOS 1542 & 1560.
Thank you both Howard and Larry. You both bring up great points we're excited about both of them. We're fortunate my wife can work from anywhere. Me, that's a little tougher and I'm part of the <10% of Americans with a funded pension plan. That being said you don't get bonus points for crossing the finish line with cash in your pocket ;)
We certainly plan to document the trip. We're looking into some sort of website/blog, something more than Facebook. Not into blogging it in terms of an income producer, but as a way to document and keep friends and family updated on the adventures.
What a great plan. It sounds like a once in a lifetime opportunity to have at younger age. Most people have to wait until old age to go on their adventure. DO IT WHILE YOU CAN.
The memories you will make with your 4 year old will last a lifetime.
When fate or serendipity comes your way, don't ignore it.
Let the adventure begin.
