Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.


We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

So, assembled congregation, what music motivated you to put your foot in it?

First of all, you don't get decent mileage so I'd suggest lead-footin' it in the TOAD.

But even with that, what gets you down the road? With me it's old-time rock and roll. Seger. Skynyrd. The Who. Stones, Delbert, Lee Roy, Kentucky Headhunters, Waylon, Willie, Tom Petty, many others. Kind of appropriate a Class A resembles a Prevost tour bus. I know a band riding the road in a 26-foot Fleetwood. One of the kids is a trustie who's footin' the bill. The band's money from the venue is plowed into expenses. They make their money on merch and CD sales. They have no label. The Trustie takes no money, letting the other guys keep a positive balance. They even have a small trailer for geare, with a lock the size of a bowling ball on the trailer.

Yes, Willie IS rock  and roll. Bob Wills may still be the king, but Willie is rock and roll.

'Nuff bout my music, how about yours? What sets the ol' nose hairs on fire and puts the wanderlust back in your road-weary heart?

This evening it was Seger and Skynyrd. Here's one of my favorite late-LS tunes with the galactically talented Steve Gaines...Love me some Steve Gaines, the only man Ronnie to lead the band and sing, too. Steve lit a FIRE under Ronnie, Allen and Gary. He was kicking Allen and Gary's ass on guitar and if you listen to "One More from the Road," you will hear Steve kicking their asses.

My wife got me a Christmas present that will really help me get the injection of my own electric guitar playing on the road I absolutely need,, a little Vox AC30 plugin you can plug into your guitar's output jack, plug in some cans in one output and an iPod or iPhone and play along with the stuff you like. It's not really playing with people and I get that, but Ican still play electric guitar and enjoy it. NO, it doesn't sound like a ral AC-30 but my cats like it (they can't hear it) and they like to cuddle it. Hey, don't ask me.

I had to look through my playlist, and something besides the obvious "Going Mobile" by The Who.

This one makes my foot heavier....

When you say 'put your foot in it' I can only think of putting my feet in the sand.  Our last five winters have been spent in Mazatlan listening to great live music with our feet planted deep in the sand.

Live music is going on 7 days a week, from afternoon til late at night.  Pick any genera and it's happening somewhere.  For some reason old rock-n roll musicians like to spend their winters away from the snow of the far north.  It's amazing how many Grammy award winners find their way south for a gig in the sun.  The young Mexican players love Pink FLoyd, who would think that it could cross generations and cultures.

When we arrived down here I had not idea how many different styles of music existed here.  It's opened a whole new appreciation of another cultures music. I may be old but it is good to continue learning and experiencing new things.  If you are brave try some 'Banda' music for a new experience, a tuba bass line is amazing.

Have Skynard or Seger CD blasting on the Harley speakers when I'm out twisting the throttle. Jimmy Buffet or Bellamy Bro's in the truck when I'm taking that.

 I LOVE Banda!!! Mariachi, Tejano, Tejano rock and roll (thank you Doug Sahm. #RIP). Tuba bass line, fiddles, accordions, and lyrics I have no clue about. Freddy Fender, Flaco Jiminez, Augie Meyers and Luis Ortega. Badass band right there.  biggrin

Hey Old Man, you have to be pretty hard core to love Banda.

On weekends there can be a dozen Banda bands wandering the streets and beaches.  Once in a long while one of them will be great.  Most of the time they make-up for lack of talent by playing louder.  ( I love a loud tuba )  It's always entertaining even if it is painful to my ears.  The big question here in Mazatlan is, "Why don't they tune their horns before playing?"

Life is one big adventure.

What most of you said above - for me it's Roll & Roll. Growing up in Detroit I have a soft spot for Bob Seger, Mitch Ryder, and recently I've been listening to and seeing Jim McCarty a lot. He was the guitar player in Mitch Ryder and Detroit, played on Bob Seger Seven (Get out of Denver) Cactus & The Rockets. Then there's Rory Gallagher, Janis Joplin, Canned Heat, a lot of Motown, and a bunch of other stuff I can't think of right now.

Almost anything by AC/DC, Def Leppard or The Eagles (Boston is pretty good also).
