Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Alright It's Real

Hi, I 'm Bill and my wife's name is Laurie. I have been getting wonderful advice from many good people and the RV Dreams website. For some reason I picked Cookie dough as my forum name, one of my favorite ice cream flavors😀 We thought about Full Timing for a long time, but waited for retirement to happen. That was 6 months ago. I searched RV trader and found our new home. A 2002 Airstream Land Yacht 39 ft DP. After a certified inspection I flew from Long Island NY to SC. We had a TT years ago, so RVing is not new to us. I drove it home over 2 days. We had some recommended maintainence done, purchased a tow dolly, joined a few "clubs" and this past Sunday moved to a local campground. Actually we are right at the Atlantic Ocean. As part of our plan we stopped being home owners after 30 years, that was about 3 years ago. I had to return to our rental house today for a final clean up. Tomorrow I give back the keys. The purge was a lot of work, I posted about that. I'll add at this time that our 29 year old son will start this journey with us, Justin has some medical issues that keep him from working, but since we'll be in the comfort of our own home, he'll be OK. His (our) dog Brutus will with us too. It will be difficult for us to be away from Laurie's mother. Nanny is 89 and lives in her own house, an aid comes in 4 hours a day 5 days a week. We got her a Kindle and plan to Skype. On Sunday we will leave NY, and travel to Florida at a leisurely pace, visiting some friends along the way. We arrive in Ft Meyer's 12-3 . The campground is about 20 miles from my mother, Granny is a young 81, still drives and lives in her own home. This year we will be visiting her for Christmas. BTW, no major problems w Irma, she went to a shelter, but came back right after, even has electric. Yes this is a bit of an essay, but I feel I know about other forum members from bits and pieces. So I just strung a bunch of our pieces together. Thanks to all

"Real" hasn't hit us yet but its getting closer. Only one question. Have you been in contact with your intended campground down FL way? Your "Nanny" may be okay and even have electric... can you say the same for where you plan to park your rig? What video I've seen so far shows a real mess at many CGs and demand for those spaces will be eaten up by locals seeking temporary squatting rights while homes get rebuilt etc. Just sayin' if you are planning to be in the "disaster zone" make sure your plans are solid and realistic as to what you expect.  You, of course, would know more about your arrangements than I, just keepin' it "real".

Good luck and enjoy your retirement!

Brian
