Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Soon to start Travel Nursing!!! I want to see EVERYTHING and get paid!

God willing my husband and I will strike out, possibly as early as next summer, to begin a new adventure.   I have been a L&D RN for 16yrs and want to start Travel Nursing... what better way to see this great country than by hooking up to a fifth wheel camper and checking out new areas in 3month intervals? biggrin My husband owns and operates heavy equipment(but is gonna travel with me full time)...  But we are complete newbies to the RV stuff... so new we haven't purchased yet! HA... but that's where y'all(and all y'alls knowledge) come in...also of there is anywhere or thing that is a must do or see tell me about it! We plan on going all over.... nurses are needed EVERYWHERE!

You sound so excited, I hope everything falls into place for you as soon as possible! You might want to start by borrowing a friend or relatives RV for a few trips to see if you're really into it, or a rental if you can find a good deal.

Lots to learn about; the Rallies held by RV-Dreams are really helpful, if you can attend one, do. RV Shows can be great places to learn things, but leave your checkbook home until you've really finished your research. Lots of RV dealers have a no-pressure policy, so you can roam around their lots on your own, sit in models, get some ideas about what you do and don't have to have, etc. RVTrader is a handy resource to get ideas about what used units are for sale and what they are worth.

My personal nugget of advice, hard-learned, is start selling, gifting, and donating stuff right now, it takes time to dispose of all the contents of a house, and if you sell stuff sooner rather than later, that's more money for the costs of making the transition.

Click around on this site, lots of good info. Ask specific questions on the forum here.

Congrats! Being married to an ICU nurse for over 20 years, I developed a deep appreciation for the traveler nurses. As a group they seemed so experienced, knowledgeable, and so ready to party, lol. Seriously the traveler nurse at the three California hospitals I was familiar with were all outstanding.
Sounds like you need a full-time rig, and lots of recommendations on this board about those. Would a heavy duty truck be good for the heavy equipment operator to get to his job site? A 5th wheel might be a good choice. Or, with a nice Class A and a properly configured 4wd pickup as a towed, you can drive the motorhome to work and park in those big empty hospital parking lots while hubby takes the truck to work. Decisions, decisions...
