Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.


We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Beautiful place in East Tennessee

Since last Tuesday (writing this the next Monday) we have been at an absolutely gorgeous location in East Tennessee for our son's wedding. The place is called Meadow Creek Mountain Ranch and is about 15 minutes outside Parrottsville, TN. There is a small lodge, cafe (open Fri - Sun), etc., and the owners manage the rentals for several cabins in the area. There are stables with horses available for rent to ride the trails in the area (if you don't bring your own horses). There are many good hiking trails, too. The "RV park" consists of 12 FHU sites that are really hookups in the middle of a grassy pasture (they keep it mowed) with what my wife calls "to die for" views in every direction. It was an adventure getting the rig back here on the narrow, curving Tennessee roads, but very doable. The owners, Doug and his wife A.J., took excellent care of the wedding party and guests totaling about 35 people (everyone but us stayed in the lodge and cabins). Every evening after the festivities, we just headed about 200 yards down the lane behind the cafe to our home on wheels. The wedding gang all went home yesterday, but we're staying through this next weekend and taking day trips to Hot Springs, etc. It's been such a great experience I just had to spread the word.

Looks like a hidden gem. It has no reviews on RV Park Reviews and is not listed on All Stays. If they want to attract RV folks, they are not making an effort. Thanks to the tip.

I just visited the website, but no info on rates. Do they have affordable monthly rates for RVs?

This is one of my favorite areas and I'd like to add another area park to my short list as I will be going FT the first of the year.

You might want to call them. When we were there last year, the owners were thinking of selling. The RV rates were extremely inexpensive - but the sites are out in the middle of a grassy pasture. It's not the kind of situation for staying long-term with a lot of precipitation (rain or snow).

They made a reference to it being primitive for camping in an RV.  Does that mean there was no hookups for electric?  You mentioned "FHU," but I just wanted to clarify this issue. I take it from the description on their website that all they had were water faucets available, but I'm not sure one could hook up and stay hooked up.  Possibly only if they were the only ones in the camping area.

We are hoping at some point to make it back into that part of the country, and this site would be very close to where we might want to stay.

It was full hookup, Terry. W/S/50 amp electric (though the electric system was a bit old and they were having issues with the voltage cropping on one leg on one of the two rows of sites). I think "primitive" refers to the grassy meadow - no roads/lanes or pads for sites... just a beautiful grassy meadow with two rows of utility stanchions with water and sewer. There's even a perimeter cable on posts for hitching your horses. It's still one of our fondest memories - even not counting the kids' wedding.

We are "considering" some changes in our lifestyle but still want to travel.  A place like this could very well work for us when we go to explore the eastern part of the U.S.
