Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Hi everyone, new team here.👫

We are Art & Gloria. We have been RVing since the 60's when we purchased our first RV, a class c Gypsy 22. Since then we have camped in an '72 Airstream 25' Land Yacht, a 28' Wildwood Fiver, a 30' Montana Fiver, a 36' Pace Arrow Class A, a 40' Beaver Patriot, then back to a 28' Airstream.

We sold the Airstream three years ago and have not traveled much, due to remodeling a fixer upper house on the Sacramento River in Redding CA. We are both retired. Gloia is 71 and I'm 80, and we always seem to need a project or adventure to keep our "juices" flowing. So with the conclusion of our "Fixer Upper" project we looked at each other and said, "now what"?

Since we had planned on selling our fixer upper we started the "chore of looking for our next "Money Pit". Do we do another Fixer? No, been there done that and have the scars to prove it! So a "turnkey" house in a subdivision? No, too much upkeep, I hate gardening but I'm too "Scotish" to hire someone to do something I can do myself. How about a Condo then? No, too claustrophobi. We had to share "Walls" we we first started out together 53 years ago. Didn't  like it then, wouldn't like it now!

What then, Gloria said with a note exasperation! I said, "how about getting another RV and just hitting the road for a couple of years?" I saw her wheels starting to turn, then I noticed a little twinkle in her eye, then the beginning of a smile which turned into a grin as she exclaimed, " that's a great idea!

So here we are,  ready to begin our next big adventure! We are in the research phase now, and that's how we arrived here to prevail upon you good folks to guide us through the "process".

Thank you in advance for your help and patience as we work through the nuts, bolts and emotions (that's for Gloria of course), of beginning our new Adventure!

I hope I won't be penalized for being too long winded. As Polonius remarked, "Brevity is the soul of wit", I confess, I'm obviously not a witty soul.🤔

Welcome Art and Gloria. It sounds like you have hit the buffet of life pretty good and are ready to go back for another round of your favorites. Good for you guys! Pattie and I are in our mid-50's and hit the road almost 2 year ago full time. So we seem to be in the "youth group" as most full timers appear to be 10 years+ our senior. Although, we have seen more families with young kids traveling and homeschooling. You are familiar with the different options for a rig and their pluses and minus. You of course must make a selection based on your current fitness level as some are better or worse for those who have stair and bending/crawling challenges. The Airstream folks seem to be a tight group as I am sure you know. Anyway, I don't know what advice we can give but look forward to learning from you both and reading about your next adventure.

Thanks for your response. Your advice on the type of unit to choose is well taken. Yes we've tried most of them. We're getting up there ( well one us us is) but we're still active and enjoy outdoor activities such as kayaking, pickleball, fishing and golf. But if we are going to be " living aboard" as we used to say when we were sailing, our primary concern with be COMFORT. So no more "Silver Twinkies". We're thinking Motorhome. Also least complicated to drive, set-up or take down. In our opinion the Motorhome was the easiest for us. Fivers and MH's to us, are the most "homelike". But we want something small to tool around with once we get to our destination. We prefer a midsize SUVs to a 1 ton truck. So MH and Toad has worked best for us in the past from that standpoint. Thanks again for your input! BTW I Was Airforce also👍

Your "penalty" for being long winded is to keep us updated! Welcome!
