Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Oh boy, I'm gonna hear about this!

Hello Everyone!

I am presently living in my Fleetwood Storm 30H at a very nice Mobile Home Park in Phoenix. I moved in Nov. 1st and wanted to take some practice trips locally before I hit the road.  I am planning to leave Phoenix (I know...) for Ellensburg, Washington (where I plan to live the rest of my life) soon.

Boy am I glad I stayed here first.  It took me 2 1/2 weeks to get everything working so that understood it!  LOL!  But everything works and I'm getting ready to take my first short trip this week!

Well, happy roads and safe travels!

Francee Free and loving it!

You do realize that it is winter and you'll be going the wrong way, right? You are moving to an area of winter SNOW.

Hi Barbaraok!

It's funny that you say I'm going the WRONG WAY!  LOL!!  I hate living in the desert, and this is FINALLY my chance to get OUT!!  That's why I say, "Boy, i'm gonna hear about this!"  Thanks for commenting on my post!  :)

I'm going to take the long way to Ellensburg, but I'd like to get there before Christmas..so I'm hoping there will be a few good days to get through the passes!

My oldest brother lives in Vernon, B.C. and it's only about 8 hours so that's another reason why I'm moving north!

Happy roads and safe travels!

Hi Francee,

You'll do just fine.  I stayed at a campground for a few months after I bought my C.  It is much easier to work the bugs out while stationary and on short trips.  I'm sure you realized that none of this stuff is rocket science, but some things can be a bit counterintuitive.

If you are going to live aboard in WA, just check and see what everybody else at your park is doing to keep warm.  They'll know the local conditions far better than anyone.  If you found a private parking place,  the internet can help with generalities.

Remember you're doing what's right; everybody else is doing it backwards.biggrin

Francee,

We grew up on the 'wet' side of the state. I find the older I get the more I want warmth in the winter. 13 yrs in Michigan re-enforced that idea! We spend the summer in the PNW (wet side most of the time) with family.

Ellensburg is one of the colder places in Washington state in the winter. I know, since I drove through it a lot over the years and sometimes spent the night there.  Once it was -30F outside during the day, making it hard to keep the driver's side windshield clear.  That same day it was -5F in Richland, where I came from, and in the 40s and raining in Western Washington.

The weather isn't the best right now up here, rain on the coast and snow in the mountains. Just take your time, plan accordingly, don't be in a hurry.
