Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.


We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Those beginning or involved in the search for an RV might like to take a look at this.  Just an option other than a 5th wheel or a motorhome.  Having had travel trailers of various makes over the years it seems to be addressing some of the storage, power and cargo capacity issues many “bumper pull” trailers have.  Just depends on your needs.  Travel trailers have some advantages over 5ers – 5ers have some advantages over travel trailers.  Having owned more than one of each over the years I can tell you "it depends."

The specific part of the travel trailer comes up a few minutes in.  Greg’s points at the beginning may be of interest to some.

WOW!!!

I'd be interested to see how that actually plays out. I suspect that it will be too heavy for most people, though. With a gross vehicle weight of over 19,000 pounds, you'd be looking at 2000-3000 pounds on the hitch. How many trucks come with a hitch that strong?

Wonder what it costs.

It's a New Horizons ... I wouldn't expect a price that is significantly different from the 5th wheels. Essentially the same product on a different frame configuration. But it is a pretty neat idea based on Greg's lead in comments. Not everyone is a Smartcar fan. This could bring a lot of other vehicles into the mix. Another choice, which is almost always a good thing.

First, not pushing this trailer at all.  It is, IMO, for a very specific purpose.  Not a production line trailer for sure.

By going to a "bumper pull" a larger car on the back of the HDT can be turned longways and therefor be longer and provide more options than just the Smart as was mentioned. This also eliminates the issue of "towing double" and being over length in many states not to mention a license endorsement in many states of residence, like mine.

I just posted this as an interesting - very specialized - alternative. 

Like all things New Horizons, it will be expensive - custom is expensive.  I doubt they will build many of these.  :)
