Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Yup...kept 1 black one. After a couple of years it seemed to shrink around the waist area so got another. Glad I have one.....been a few unexpected funerals.
Hubby kept one suit- he has worn it twice, which is enough for him to justify keeping it. That being said, most events these days are trending more casual (one use of his suit was to walk our daughter down the aisle. No tux).
Put me into the category of no suit, although I do have a sport coat that is now too small and dressy looking slacks. Even with regular church attendance, a suit is never needed. I do have a few ties and dress shirts. As for when I die, I keep telling everyone to strip me naked, slather me with honey, and leave me for the bears.
Seriously, when I die, I won't care what I look like. A nice shirt and tie will be enough, or even just a casual look with no tie.

Nope, I didn't wear them before and I'm not about to start now. If I can't go in a pair of shorts, jeans or Dockers I don't go OR people will just need to deal with it. Nobody I know will wear a suit to my funeral and wouldn't expect me to wear one to there's either.
I kept the only decent suit I had and one blazer. Worn the suit 0 times and the blazer probably less than 10 in going on 5 years.
Mostly I figure that even for a funeral dockers and a nice shirt are adequate…especially down in FL where we spend 5 months a year. If it no longer fit I'm not sure I would get another one at this point.
Cindi thinks I shoud keep a suit, but I'm of the mind that dockers a sport coat is all I'll ever need... if ever. I'll probably donate my suits(2) before we hit the road. will keep the aforementioned sport coat for at least a year... not sure about after that.

Wow, that could have been written by my husband verbatim Dave :)

I keep one dark suit just in case I am called on short notice to give advice at the White House. So far, no calls and it looks like they could use the help. 😉

I was a police detective, so I wore mostly Dockers, dress shirts and a tie and sport coat or suit for court appearances so when I retired I kept two of the best looking slacks- they were all khaki- which made choosing easy, two shirts, one white and one blue and three ties, so I can change things a bit if needed. Luckily only a few occasions to wear them in 8 years of full timing.
I kept one pair of dark gray dress pants, a black sport coat, and a white shirt with tie. Had to use it for my dad's funeral and will use it again next spring for my step-son's wedding. Howard said at a rally we attended that his plan is to buy a suit at Goodwill for those kinds of occasions, wear it once, and donate it back to Goodwill. For church and everything else nowadays, we consider a polo shirt (for me) and nice slacks and top (for her) "formal wear." We haven't gotten kicked out of any function so far...

I know we are generally "dressing down" in our culture. I was an executive when I retired and rarely was a sport coat required. When one was, even less frequently was a tie required. Only once was Black Tie required (owner's daughter's wedding). I could see getting by with zero "formal wear" and be just fine. I'm old school (cause I'm old😜) and change comes slowly. I'll probably drag my one suit around for a couple of years ... then donate it to Goodwiil, like I did all of the others.

Bill has one suit with us. We kept it initially b/c we were attending a Bar Mitzvah for my cousins son. I kept 2 nicer dresses for the same reason, along with appropriate shoes and accessories. They are stowed under the bed, so not in the way.

I have one suit for weddings, funerals and as use if I'm shooting a wedding or function. I have to admit I felt pretty over dressed the last few occasions.

Before retiring I wore suits and sports coats often but I gave away all my suits when we started to full-time 10 years ago. I kept a sports coat for 3 years and never used it so it was gone. I kept a pair of slacks for the next four years and only wore them once so it was gone also. I rented a tux for a daughter's wedding one time. We have been on cruises etc. but check for anytime dining so we don't have to "dress up" as that is not a vacation to us. We go to church regularly as we travel but scope out on internet for casual dress and I wear jeans and fit in fine. We are not comfortable dressing up and this lifestyle does not require it. I keep a nice pair of black jeans and nice sports shirt for funerals and some dining Some people like to dress up and some like us do not. It is your choice.

No. If you go to a Men's Warehouse, they can take all your measurements, select a suit or tux, complete with shirt, ties shoes and anything else, and you can fly to any other MW in the US, they download your measurements, and your rental outfit is waiting.

What is the cost of that arrangement! Last time I was in a suit was last October at my sons wedding. I like the dressing down idea. I have the one suit but it is really tough latching the waist band. I have to have advance notice so I can fast for 3 days to get them on! I like the rent a suit idea if needed! Shoes and all. There goes 10 more pounds off the pin weight!
I followed Howard's s suggestion. Went to consignment store and bought a very nice suit for $20 and took it to goodwill afterwards and return it to bin. $20 was for shirt , tie and coat. I was amazed at the clothing. Very nice stuff.
