Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Does anyone like Keystone Montana? We just bought a 2007 34 RL. It is immaculate on the inside but the outside decals are gone on one side. what size truck would pull it without a problem?

Greetings, We have a 09 3665RE and love it. We took out all the RV furniture and replaced it with what we had in the house. The couch fit in through the large window of the living room. As for the decals... UUUUUUG ours to are peeling and look like h_ll, we are hoping to have the rig painted in a couple of years so I'm doing my best to deal with it.

Safe travels to all, Take each day as a gift for that is truly what it is.
They are one of the most popular campers. I personally don't want one. Do believe you could do a lot worse though.

I think Montanas are a good choice. The salesman swung from the upper cabinets in the slide. That tells me that strength was considered in engineering. Floor plans are all nice and quality is as good as any other. The best part is that they build so many of them you can wiggle on the price of a new one. People have them and full time in them and are satisfied. What better testimony could you ask for.
The bad part... The frame is limpert ( I'm pretty sure that is spelled right, inference intended). The lippert designers went to school and got experience and got good at what they do. Then they put the engineers into a bowl and added bean counters, stirred, and came up with a team that knows what they're doing but in the name of profit produces junk. Don't sweat that. You'll get used to it, the rest of us have.

We have a 2013 3582RL and love it. We bought it brand new in 2014. We have fulltimed in it from the beginning. And we have been all around the US and boondock a lot, so it gets a goodwork out. We did replace the tires immediately with G614s. The only problem we had was with some staples lifting on the roof. Once we got to it to a repair facility that knew how to deal with Keystone, the staples were removed and replaced with screws. No problems since. Love our floorplan and what I'm most impressed about is the finishings were so perfect in the beginning and have held up great. By that I mean floor, furnishing patterns etc are all square and line up.
We have a 2015 3610RL and love it. It is our second Montana. That being said, like any mass production RV there are always going to be issues, some minor, some major. It is the nature of the RV business.
Would we buy another one? Right now no, because we do not like any of the current floor plans they offer. We will certainly give them a good look when and if we decide to buy a new one, but we will do our due diligence and research and comparison shop several brands to make sure we get the best value for our money to fit our needs.
Good luck with your new rig!
Safe travels,
Les

"CHARACTER is doing the right thing when no one is looking"
We've been full timing in our 2009 3665RE for just over 6 years and love the floor plan, but our decals are shot as well. A common problem with some Montana's. Because every time you move your RV your putting it through an earthquake there will be issues regardless of brand or value. If we were ever to get another RV it would have to have painted graphics.
My wife and I have always liked the Montana model line. But since we aren't ready to go to a 5'er, I haven't looked at them very often. I took a look and was happy to see that they have 3 floorplans with something other than the bedroom in the front. We are big fans of the front lounge, but that front kitchen model looks great.
You'll have to figure out the pin weight loaded and take a look at axle capacities…but I'm guessing you would need a 3500HD or an F350 or maybe an F450 to pull it. Impossible to tell without doing the math. I would definitely recommend a dualley…it will tow much nicer.
We have a 2013 Montana 3582RL, which we bought new in 2013. We paid for a treatment that is supposed to preserve the decals for 10 years. We'll see whether or not that was worth it but so far so good. We took off full time a year ago today and so far we've enjoyed this floor plan. We still haven't utilized all of the cabinet space inside.
As others have stated, there are things that are bound to happen. For us, the most major thing was one of the bolts that hold the leaf spring on sheared off. We think that also caused a flat as that's when we found the bolt missing. Unfortunately, the guys that came to fix the leaf spring put in the wrong type of bolt that ended up making the hole in the shackle an oval, instead of a perfect circle. Ended up having to have a new shackle welded on. And we did get new tires.
We bought used, a 2013 Montana 3150, last year, and so far have been very happy with it. Well, besides the issue with the roof. (Comments on that are on another post).
This isn't my dream floor plan, and we knew it when we bought it. But buying last year, gave us a year earlier jump on our part-time/fulltime plan (6 months of the year). Would I buy another Montana, yes, they have one floor plan right now that I like, but not my dream floor plan. The front kitchen plan looked interesting on paper, but I did not like it at all when actually seeing it and spending time in it at the dealership. My favorite was a plan from about five years ago that they no longer offer.
Our decals do not look too bad so far, but time will tell.
I like our length, 35 foot, but think in the long run we will want a bit longer and different floor plan. There are a couple other brands that have a floor plan that I really like, so a different fifth wheel is probably in our future.
So overall, my response is yes, we would probably buy another Montana.
I believe any decal will start peeling over time. Our Teton is but it is a 2003.

We just looked at the front kitchen and also the front lounge with the windows in the front. They were really interesting but as with all the front kitchens and lounges you give up 1/2 the garage storage and that's a no go for full timers. It they had the same garage storage they would be a winner for us.
