Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

First night out! Need a pullthru or parking lot vicinity of Memphis. Tunica casinos?

Hi guys, so I'm setting out on the first shakedown cruise this Saturday.  Trying to get to a trainer in Missouri so I can sharpen my backing up ability.  But, they are 500 miles away, so I need to travel half of that and camp the first night out someplace 'easy'.  Unfortunately the north Mississippi state parks are all back-ins, and are crowded on Saturdays in summer.

So, has anybody had good luck with a casino park or lot in the Robinsonville / Tunica area, or any place in the vicinity (west Tennessee, NE Arkansas, etc.) where I'm likely to find pullthrus or easy parking?

Try Tom Sawyer Mississippi River RV Park in West Memphis, Arkansas. They have easy in and out pull thru spots right near the Mississippi River and the views are wonderful!

Thanks so much guys! That is a load off my mind. Off today to buy cords and hoses and 'stuff', starting to get excited about the trip!

Memphis South RV in Coldwater Ms.  is rated well in RV Reviews .   We stayed at COE park nearby which was nice but they are all back ins.

Thanks again, guys and gals.

The first night I did go to Tom Sawyer. Hard to find from I-55 and not on the GPS maps, so I wound up chasing around and eventually crossed the Mississippi 3 times before getting there, but since it was getting to be sunset that wasn't all bad. It was a perfect spot for a first night, level and lovely. An orange moon rose before I got settled in for the night and it was cool to have the vessels passing right by on the bank. A very kind couple, Joe & Mary, supervised my first hookups and I hope we'll be staying in touch over the years.

On the return after the big voyage, realized it would be hard to find a spot on short notice on July 2 holiday weekend. Couldn't make it farther than Caruthersville, Mo, so I tried the small riverboat casino there. Not the greatest, but a 'port in a storm', and now I've had the experience of crawling on the ground trying to hook up water under ground level, several times since I had to move when the first spot leaked, and had to hook up wash hoses later on. Funny how simple Mom & Pops can make a water faucet easy to use but a giant corporation can't.??

I carry a pair of pliers by the utility bay. Sometimes just a little extra twist on the hose is all you need to stop the drip.
