2016 Hershey show

Hi all, In our planning/ wannabe phase of full time dreaming, We are planning on visiting the Hershey show in Sept. And would like some advice. I saw one recommendation to take pictures of the make and model and the features we like. Any other tips are greatly appreciated Thanks, Scott

If you find something you think you really like. Sit in it for a couple hours if possible.
Make sure you are comfortable and just listen to everybody else's comments, you will be surprised at what you learn. There are so many units at the show that I would suggest that before you go you do your research of which brands and style you want to spent the most time in. We had norrowed it down our choice to 5-6 brands and had a good idea of what our top end budget was( we still ended up over our budget) Had a idea of the style and length we wanted and then just tried to spend most of our time with those units. We used Hersay to luck in our must haves and to make sure we could find the quality we wanted for the full time lifestyle, this was going to be our home so we wanted to try and get it right. We did have the advantage of having owned several different RV's before we decided to start our fultime adventure.
Good luck and enjoy the process.

I believe Saturday is the busiest day at the show, so sometimes it's harder to really get a good look at some of the popular rigs. We had good luck on a Sunday morning right when the show opened up to really "see" the rigs we wanted to....and spend time in them.

As with any RV show, I'd suggest going to look at what one considers their top choices of RV's.  Trying to spend the time looking at all of them is going to rob you of quality time with your options.  Once the show is over, you may have found that you've eliminated some options or choices of RV's, so you can then take the time to go to the dealerships for those RV's still on your list.  At the dealerships, you'll have more time to spend in each one without the distractions of other shoppers wanting to ask questions of the same person to whom you are posing questions.

Also, I suggest paying attention to your salespeople.  If they aren't asking you questions as to what you want and how you want to use your RV, then you either need a new salesperson or a new dealership.  How could they know what to recommend to you if they don't have that information.  Also, the salesperson, after finding out what you want, may offer other options that appeal to you.

Good luck.

Terry

First two days are the best days, take your time and ask a lot of questions.
Take the time to understand how you want to live in your Rv.

We went three years ago and their advertise was "it will take you three days to see everything". In our case we took a three days trip for the RV show we loook several type of units but concentrate on class A motorhome. We've also attented several seminars inside the arena rink there is a schedule inside the booklet they give at the entrance. I agree with Bob, saturday is a crazy day and if it's sunny outside you will find it hard to stay a long period of time looking at the units, therefore plan yourself a schedule between the units outside, the seminars and the vendors inside. BTW food is very expensive on site and not too good. Good luck.

We spent two days there in 2013 and picked out the RV that we are still thrilled with three years later. We walked in and out of most models and soon learned what we didn't want. (For us it was islands and TV's on the outside). Once we had those "no-go's" in place it was easier to walk the sites as we skipped any models with those features. After a day we had narrowed it down to about 8 so the next day we went into those 8 again. We narrowed it to four and yes we sat in them all. We knew we need separation of space so I spent a lot of time in the "other" room to see if I would be comfortable in it. Two more came off the list. Finally it was down to two and it was a struggle as I liked one and Lee liked the other. Finally we chose based on the model that had the most storage space. I am so so glad we factored this in because that extra storage space has made me happier than any other feature since we became full timers.

So wear comfortable shoes, be honest with yourself about what you can and cannot live with, and don't get blinded by the pretty stuff. Yes it should look good aesthetically, but the bones of the thing matter just as much.

Good luck to you and I hope you find the perfect home!

Tracy

We are currently at the Western Village RV Park in Carlisle.  It is about 25 minute drive away from Hershey.  Campground is very clean, more on the adult side, less on the kids at play side (even though that activity picks up on the weekend).  In fact we talked to a couple staying here that travel all over rating campgrounds and this is the campground they choose to stay at when in the area.
