Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
No.1 on mine was watch a shuttle launch (scratch).
2 was jump out of a perfectly good airplane wearing a parachute but too old (scratch).
Still have the main ones - ride the Canadian Pacific from Montreal to Vancouver - Caribbean cruise - Grand Canyon - listen to a major orchestra perform live.
Knocked off some already - visit the UN - fly a plane - see Fujiyama at dawn - live in a third world country (never again).
I see some lists on the net but they're pretty silly (usually by young folks who don't ken that BLs are for old folks).
Would like to hear any on your list you think are above average.

Some items off our lists:
Here is the link and video of Bush 41 celebrating his 90th Birthday with a tandem skydive. He's got almost 40 yrs on you! You're not going to let a Navy fighter jock show up a US Marine are you?? George Bush Sr celebrates 90th birthday with skydive – video | US ...

The Swiss Alps are a World Heritage Train Railroad site with unbelievable steep grades and views.. We also rode the Orient Express from London to Venice but were nervous during the "Chunnel" segment under the English Channel. 2 items off our lists!
As part of our honeymoon we walked the 6 miles from Jerusalem to Bethlehem and the 70 miles to Nazareth. We were in our mid 20's. Would not recommend it at our current ages. Also big difference over there from mid 70's to today re security.
We also wanted to see a major orchestra performance so we took a 3 day weekend to visit the Met in NYC and have been members ever since!
Crewed 2 ARC races and then had our 78' cat built in Poland and spent 2 1/2 years circumnavigating the globe as leisurely tourists. The trip of a lifetime and if able would recommend everyone do it.
Bought my first motor home!
Met Mother Theresa.
Retired before 40! (month before) Used to joke about it but our hard work became a reality that didn't see coming.
Lived thru 33+ months in Nam! This was the first and only item on my list for couple years. Just wanted to make 21 so I could legally drink before I ended up KIA.
Married the Love of my Life!
Many more but those are the most imp to me.
John

August 21, 2017.... be somewhere in the path of totality for solar eclipse that will cross the USA from Oregon to South Carolina.... longest time in the shadow will be in southern IL.
Miss that one, then 2024 there will be a another from TX to New England states. Time in shadow will be better the further south you are.
No burning desire to jump out of a perfectly good airplane.

Since we just started our full-time adventure, and have just visited family in FL and NC, here are our remaining bucket list items:
#1 For me, see the giant sequoias - though I lived in Ca for 10 years I didn't get to go as I worked too much - only one day off at a time. One year, I only had one day off (Christmas) the entire year. Yeah, I'm sure glad I'm retired. :) We plan to see them the end of May.
#1 For my DW, see Mt. Rushmore. No definite plans yet as to when, as SD is sort of out of the way - but we'll get there eventually.
#2 For some strange reason, I want to visit "the slabs" in Niland, Ca. Plan on visiting them in April - don't know for how long but if it's even weirder than I expect, we'll finish out April at Quartzsite.
#3 My DW wants to find a diamond at Crater of Diamonds in AR. We've been there twice already with no luck. Maybe the third time is the charm. We are experienced gem miners, having found lots of rubies, sapphires, emeralds and lots of semi-precious stones from the mountains of Georgia and North Carolina, but diamond mining is a little different. Here's a couple stones we dug up on our last mining adventure in Hiddenite, NC: i65.tinypic.com/2sbrjls.jpg"> And a few more: i64.tinypic.com/30vjfgj.jpg"> i64.tinypic.com/2i11phk.jpg">
#4 We want to dig for fire opals in Nevada and do a little gold panning out west (we've already done some gold panning in Ga.)
#5 We'd like to do some fishing and pan for gold in Alaska, just to say we've found some - a gram will do, cause it's cold up there and I hate the cold!
#6 We want to visit all the national parks (and as many state parks and national monuments and unique, out of the way wilderness places that we can).
#7 We want to ride the Silverton/Durango narrow gauge railroad through the Colorado rockies. Maybe even buy a legal joint and smoke it just to say we did and see what it's all about.
#8 We'd like to visit Mexico and have some (more than a few) Margaritas on the beaches of Baja. Hey, it's a tough job, but somebody has to do it.
So much to do and so little time! I guess we have to get with it!

We visited Mt Rushmore last year ... so here's some tips for those who have it on the "list". Visit Wall's Drug Store (it's not all that great, but after seeing signs for hundreds of miles, just couldn't resist), day trip to the Badlands (awesome), day trip to "Devil's Tower" (awesome), day trip to Custer State Park (awesome) where you might get a look at Bison up close, day trip to the Crazy Horse monument (not near as impressive as Rushmore, but kinda a must do if you're in the neighborhood, take a day trip just driving the Black Hills. All of these things can be done when visiting Mt Rushmore. We spent 3 weeks in the area. Stay at Rushmore Shadows ... it's a nice park and at enough altitude that the notorious SD house flys won't bother you ... stay down low and they will wear you out. It was the highlight of last year's trip.
