Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Newbees!!

Hi Everyone,

I am a retired teacher and my husband is retired from the USAF. When we retired, we moved to an "active lifestyle community" in San Antonio, Texas, after selling our 27 year old home. We had our garden home built, and we love it, but our budget is tight. One of us has to work part time. In addition, our daughter who is almost 41 found out she was pregnant for the first time. She just a promotion, and will be moving to Portland Oregon. Her job will have her and her hubby moving every couple of years and I do not want to miss out on my grandchild growing up. We are about the youngest people in the community and that is fine, but because of our budget we do not do much. We love our home and neighbors, but we are thinking of becoming full-timers. The only time we have stayed in an rv was an old travel trailer (yucky, really) that we rented for 3 months while our current house was being built. Although the travel trailer was old we really enjoyed the rv park we stayed in.

So after we sell the house, we should make about 30,000- 40,000 on it. Our plan is to buy a very nice and new travel trailer (Jayco or Forest River) and probably a ford 250. we have 3 small dogs, all under 20 lbs. What do you think.. I think a fifth wheel will be over our budget and a class a is out of the question. I think being able to see the usa and being able to see visit my daughter, her husband and grandchild. Opinions appreciated.

You can find a pretty nice Class A Diesel for 40K. Especially if you are handy and can take care of minor repairs. Whatever you decide have fun and watch the grand-baby grow up! I love to spoil mine, give them candy and all the stuff that Mom and Dad say no to. It's great revenge. Just kidding...sort of.
