There are many routes between AZ and AK. Can you tell us where you would like to enter Canada? We entered through Montana and came back in, in Washington. As far as RV parks go we use the Passport America website first to see if they have a park where we would like to stop. After that we use Allstays.

There are two books to buy, The Milepost - http://www.themilepost.com/, to show you the roads and what to do, and Traveler's Guide to Alaskan Camping - http://www.rollinghomes.com/alaska%20book.htm for campgrounds, free camping, dump stations and help with routing.  

 

 

I knew I left something out. The Milepost charges campgrounds and other businesses for listing them and also lets those businesses provide the information and ads, but does not check the accuracy of the information. The Church's book ,Traveler's Guide to Alaskan Camping, is independent and lists all campgrounds they could find on their own travels and they try to be accurate. We did encounter a campground that used 20AMP breakers with a 30AMP plug, which was pointed out in the Church's book.

I find it ironic that someone would make a journey that costs thousands of dollars and not spend $20 or $30 on a book that will probably save them more than the book's cost. But, it happens all the time.

Maybe I can help with the Alberta portion of the trip. My wife and I did north to south last September. Quite easy to find sites after school back in. From Coutts going north I can recommend Okotoks Lions Sheep River campground. Right in town and easy walk to restaurants etc. full service site $36. It's about 20 minutes south of Calgary city limits. Lake Louise rv campground is about 4 hours to the west on the way to hwy #93 Icefields Parkway which I highly recommend you travel for some amazing mountain views. Lake Louise is part of the national park system and can be booked online. We were there September 16 and didn't need a reservation. Fantastic wide sites with 30 amps around $30/ night. At the north end of the parkway is Jasper Alberta and we stayed at Whistler campground. It's also a np so can be booked online. Sites were not large and some low trees but is a great location in Jasper. Jasper Brewing Company is fantastic food and beverages 😀 Jasper is where we got married on Whistler mountain so we always enjoy a few days there. Next was Grande Cache municipal cg. Great spot close to town and $32/ night for full service site. Lots of great mountain hikes and a really good sushi place. We did 2 nights in Beaverlodge campground further north before the "mile zero " post you come to in Dawson Creek BC. The Beaverlodge campground was pretty loud right next to the highway but we weren't there much because we were visiting friends in the area. We didn't do long travel days because we wanted to relax and see the sights along the way. Hope this helps. Long post. 🙀

PS5039 you will also find that when you enter the wilderness areas of Canada heading to AK you will camp with the same RVers most nights. Take time to meet them and exchange contact info because you will find them on the same excursions and RV parks through out your travels in AK. We still keep in touch with many of our "unofficial" traveling companions.

Hey, it sounds like an excuse to have a mini RV Dreamers Happy Hour in Quartzsite (I mean meeting) with those who have been to Alaska with those who are planning to go to discuss thier plans, things to see, tidbits of info, etc, etc, etc. 

You can never have enough meetings in Q! 

We would love to meet up and talk about AK! Arriving 2/20'ish - hope at least some of you are still around!
