Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Plotting our escape!

Hi everyone ~  We are Dave and Lisa and we have just recently started to plot our escape from corporate america!  We live in the Charlotte NC area and we are in our early 50s.

When we found out the manufacturing plant Dave works for is closing and he will eventually be out of a job, it gave us the opportunity to think & dream about what we really want to do and where we want to live for the rest of our lives.  We couldn't come up with an immediate answer to that dilemma, so we decided to take a year to travel & figure it all out.  The fact that I am miserable in my corporate job motivates me even more to start taking steps to escape.

We are investigating a year of RVing.  We've starting reading the blogs and researching the RVs and formulating a plan.  I found RV-Dreams.com and found many kindred spirits and it looks like lots of people we can learn from.

We are going to spend 2016 finishing our jobs & getting ourselves in the right financial state (including selling house and most of our belongings).  We will hopefully be headed out in 2017 to see this beautiful country!  We signed-up for the spring rally in TN and I'm hoping we'll learn lots and really set our course for our RV adventure.

SO....if there are any of you have done this before or are starting to plan like we are, we would love to hear from you and learn from you and explore with you!

I am glad you are being honest with us and saying you are only going out for a year. That does help us out, since you are not committing to being fulltimers for years and years. We won't be recommending things that do not make sense for you, or at least will try not to. Of course, you might like it and decide it it worth staying on the road. We had a 2 to 5 year plan, and it has been 12 year so far.
