Welcome to the RV Dreams forum family. Glad to have you become active members here. We sold our home and property in 2011 and lived in our Mobile Suites in Oklahoma City for three years before our retirement. Now, we are retired and currently living in the Colorado Springs area, which is close to one of Jo's sister's residence. Her other sister used to live in Canon City, but they sold their place and move to Lakin, KS to be near their son and his family. Likely, we could be here for another year or two, getting in some "sister-time."

Bill- yes, La Hacienda is a nice park. We have been here 3 months and I have to say it's worked out very well. Nice folks, clean well-kept facilities and in a good location. I always appreciate your level headed responses on this forum and thank you for them.

Terry- I think of you and Jo often as we too sit stationary in our Mobile Suites waiting for the next phase to begin. Sure would liked to have spent my summer at Mountaindale instead of down here in the heat! We are giving these 2 A/C's quite a workout. blankstare

Pam and Red - you two sound like a lot of fun and I hope to meet you on the road someday.

Congrats!! We'll be hitting Austin in late November!! We did exactly what you guys are doing--sold the house and lived locally and still continued to work and wrap things up. We did move up our launch date and yes, the hard thing was waiting. The rally could be what pushes up your date!!

Congrats from us also. As to living locally in a rig... we have considered that option perhaps starting in 2017, but the relatively brutal IL winters have us hesitant to pull the trigger until later and closer to our 2019 calculation. Still a lot of variables in play for our particular situation. At least for now, we are building equity in the StixenBrix as the local economy improves here in the Land of Lincoln. Austin? We wish!

Cori and Greg - Austin in November should be nice. Our tradeoff for the hot summers is about 8 months of enjoyable weather. Give us a shout as you get closer to an arrival date, we will treat you to some Tex-Mex. Our youngest daughter lives on a boat near Galveston and has these big dreams about sailing the seas, guess you can say the apple didn't fall too far from the tree. It would be interesting to hear about your experience.

Cindi and Brian - winter in Illinois, hmm... I think I would stay with the StixenBrix too. Hopefully the economy in your area will soon make a turn for the better. Austin's economy is strong and the real estate market is absolutely crazy, houses sell within hours for over the asking price, including ours. Of course the flip side to this hot market is outrageous property taxes! Ours were pushing 10K per year. Can you say California? Anyway, hang in there, 2019 will be here before you know it. And just think how prepared you will be!

Stay tuned. Jo and I will be starting our second winter here at Mountaindale in Colorado this year. Last year, we got down to minus-6 degrees and stayed comfortable in the Mobile Suites. The only issue we had was that the hot water line from the water manifold to the kitchen sink froze. No breakage, thanks to the PEX plumbing. It only froze when it got down to zero or below. I hope to alleviate that problem before the cold weather hits here. With our rig, we've been comfortable inside at minus-6 and at 115 degrees.

Point is, with the right research into a rig, you might could still be comfortable there in the winter.
