Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Newbie needs direction. New RV queen matress needs bedding. Should I get a waterproof, bug and allergen resistant matress pad cover? I'm worried that it will be hot to sleep on due to plastic. An issue? Yet, I want to protect my investment. It is stored aprox 6 mos per year in an outdoor storage property. I know I need Queen short sheets. Found some on Amazon 100% cotton which I want. Seemingly the best prices. Any input or answers please. Appreciatied if you can help.
Hi Carol, I see that you're new to the forum so first off a big Welcome!! I also see that you're from Florida so I'm not really sure exactly what is appropriate. Maybe someone else with more experience there could chime in on your question.
I think I'd do whatever you're comfortable doing at home when you're using the RV. But while it's stored (if it's in FL) I'm not so sure. You might consider covering the mattress with a plastic cover like professional movers use. That should protect it from potential leaks or mouse droppings although ideally, if the RV is well maintained, you shouldn't have to worry too much about leaks. Mice are more of a threat but thorough cleaning and removing all potential food sources should limit the attraction.
Will you be storing the RV during summer or winter? and will it be in FL or elsewhere? My concern with FL summer is I know it get's pretty humid. We winter there and I know a lot of the folks in the park where we stay snowbird and leave their trailers there all year long. Some actually leave their air conditioners running on low to keep the humidity down during the months they're up north. It might help to know more details about your plans. There are lots of folks here that might have some ideas.

Thanks so much for input. We will store our little Gypsy Rose, intermittently, here in SW FL throughout year. In the summer though we will be "somewhere" up North. Yes, humidity will be an issue. We will keep moisture (RID)? pellets in trailer and also vent and check on her periodlically. Hope it is a good method. We purchased an Elements RV cover ( on a good sale cuz so expensive!) and that will help with heat and hopefully moisture too. I found some bedding linens on Amazon and I'll cover matress as you recommended when stored.THIS IS QUITE A LEARNING CURVE! But we are soooo excited.
