Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

I was given a 35' carriage travel trailer......so....

Ok, so I have been given a travel trailer by my dad. My husband recently got a job working in plants, but we have to travel full time. Having said this, this is why my dad gave it to me. All i know about said trailer is it is a Carriage  35' x 8'.  It has no slides and no holding tanks. He calls it a park model. I know it was made somewhere between 1990-2000. I am pretty sure it is not a fifth wheel because it has no over hang. I have to go get it in Texas (right now I am in Wyoming) in a week and a half. I cant find pictures or anything. I also know I have to get it ready for winter, but unfortunately this is a sight unseen thing and I have never done this before so I am clueless. can anyone help me find a layout or have any suggestions. I am just trying to get an idea of what I am dealing with cause after it gets moved to Wyoming, that's a wrap. Please help. Thank you!hmm

Park models are made to be put in place like a small mobile. They are not for travelers.

Christina,  I've been doing a little research on park models and from what I see it sounds like park models don't always have axles, wheels or a tongue to use in hauling them.  They have to be moved professionally.   If you really need the ability to move to another location from time to time it might be cheaper to find a used RV of some sort.

As far as preparing for winter, you might try googling "how to spend winter in an RV" and I think you'll find lots of information.  I also understand that the IRV2 forum has some good posts about winter in RVs.  Good luck!
