Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Hello, we live a bit north of Tampa in Florida and have been camping for quite some time and made the same natural progression that I think everyone does. We tent camped a bit when our kids were much younger but bought a beat up old starcraft pop-up for cheap on a whim. From there we went through 2 Sunlines and a Keystone, all travel trailers. We now have an older Bounder motor home that we have fixed up a bit and put a new roof on.
We both work full time and our kids are in high school so we travel when we can. Soon we will head out for 8 days to the keys and Sanibel. Our goal is to indeed go full time with a newer coach when we both are retired but we will likely keep our house as a home base so I guess you could say a sort of full time with a safety net? Anyhow, that is still quite a few years away so in the mean time, I will continue to enjoy fixing modding and occasionally camping in our older coach.
But I will take exception to "made the same natural progression that I think everyone does". We know many fulltimers who had not camped before fulltiming, or never tent camped or never had a small RV. You will learn that there are few generalities when it comes to fulltimers, everyone's story is unique. This extends into their fulltiming life, with different preferences in RVs, campsites, travel styles, social life, etc. I think it is great, but some find it off putting that not everyone is "just like them".
We had some RV experience before fulltiming, but not much. We dumped the house, it was not where we wanted to retire. In a few weeks we will have fulltimed for 12 years.

OhhWell: I hope you did not take any offense. Fulltiming is a great life.
BTW: We spent this last winter in Florida, from Jacksonville to the Keys, with our longest stays in North Fort Myers and Wildwood. Now we are on the Washington state coast.
