Corpus Christi RV Park Recommendations

Don't remember good parks in Corpus Christi itself but check the surrounding area. Texas has great roads and it's very easy to get into Corpus from almost every direction. We lived in a park in Ingleside while I worked in Corpus and it was a very short drive. Unfortunately I don't know if that park is still open, the owner was very old and he had shut down most of it.

Have stayed at Colonia Del Re (not sure of spelling) and Hatch. Both are acceptable and in different parts of Corpus. If it was me I'd go to Hatch. Hatch is very old (built in 1933) but you have a bit more room, when I was there the residents were very friendly, there was a great laundry, close to downtown, quiet (next to cemetery) and as I recall a bit less expensive. Colonia was close to the beach in a newer part of town closer to stores but most of the sites were a bit tight.

Since you will be there long-term, also consider looking at mobile home parks. I don't know how they would be in the area of Corpus Christi, but when we lived in our RV in Oklahoma City, we found 3 or 4 mobile home parks that would accommodate RV's on a long-term basis. Advantages are the possibility of cheaper monthly lot rates, the option of leasing a 100 to 120 gallon LP tank (filled by the leasor's trucks), and even the possibility of having a fenced yard if you have pets.

It may just be me with regards to this, but I'd also consider finding someplace a bit further inland than Corpus Christi and commute. I don't think I'd do well in hurricane country.

Terry,

Unlike Tornados, hurricanes have LONG lead times anymore. You have time to pack up and move if one is headed towards your area.

I would suggest you also look at Aransas Pass, Rockport, & Fulton (they all run together) area - - lots of parks and only ~ 30 minutes from Corpus. Lots of snowbirds in that area during the winter.

Thanks for the replies. We have looked online at Hatch, Colonia Del Rey, Padre Palms, Laguna Shores and others. It looks like the Aransas Pass area would be nice but that may be too much of a drive every day. There is an RV Park on Corpus Christi NAS and we may stay there for the short term until we look around and get familiar with the area. That would also make my commute to work about 5 minutes.

Spent 19 years in hurricane country on the east coast. You learn how to prepare and deal with it. As Barb said, there are long lead times anymore given all the weather modeling software being used these days.

As for my hurricane comment, as full-timers, we have occasionally been away from our RV anywhere from 2 weeks to a month. I'd hate to have to drive 700 miles just to move my RV further inland from the coasts. Most people may not find themselves "away from home" for so long, but I thought I'd mention it, just in case.

Since we're talking about spending at least a month or so in the Corpus area, this thread is just what we need. We've looked at some of the parks mentioned online, and will check out the others.

We've spent a month in Gulfwaters RV Resort, it is close to Port A but would be worth the drive.

We stayed at a park in Rockport and it was great. Only 30 or so from downtown and pretty quiet.
