Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

LG Washer

Is there any chance that running a LG washer on solar with a pure sine wave inverter would cause the boards in the washer to fail for a second time in 17 months?

I can't imagine what would cause the failure unless your voltage is dipping too low. All the boards are run on DC which is derived from the AC input voltage. I had hoped to find voltage speced at 90 to 240 volts 50 to 60 cycles but the specs say 110v.

LG products seem to have issues with control boards.

One of my co-workers bought several LG appliances when she remodeled her kitchen. She has had to have the control board replaced a couple of times in the refrigerator and once in the dryer. Her dishwasher had a problem but I can't remember if it was a bad board.

Do a Google search for LG product problems and you'll see lots of reviews indicating they would never recommend or buy an LG product.

We will never buy another LG product. Our washer and dryer had so many issues and the washer in particular had board problems many times. When the tech came out the last time to repair he casually informed us that the LG washers and dryers are built to only last for a maximum of five years. I'm sorry, but if he was correct, I expect to get more than five years from an appliance. The one(s) we had (LG) only gave us months of uninterrupted service without repair.

Our LG washer in our S&B home died. We found out, after several days of frustrating phone calls that LG will only sell LG parts to certified LG repair firms. Sadly, our local LG service facility would not answer or return phone calls. Every other repair facility we called told us that they could not obtain LG parts. This was confirmed with a call to LG head office. At the end of a week of frustration, it became clear that the LG washer was "unrepairable". We had the LG washer hauled away and replaced with a domestic model. We learned a very expensive lesson.
