Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Well as of 5/22 we are legit full timers!! Will stay in Reno till 6/8, tidy up a few obligations, head for Arizona and just enjoy not doing the same old crud!! Anyone heading to or in Prescott area? Suggestions for a simple and clean park? Thanks Dreamers!!
Check out AllStays.com and RV Park Reviews.com; I lived in Apache Jct. in the 1980's, Prescott and Prescott Valley are beautiful. I'm in TN. now and wished i could afford to move back. AZ. is to expensive for me.

Why are you heading south where it will be very hot instead of north where it will be cool?

I was think the same thing. Now if they had said they were going to Flagstaff or Payson or somewhere else up on the rim, then that would be great for the summer, but Prescott (and Sedona/Cottonwood) get almost as hot as Phoenix June-September.

We don't know our exact spot we'll hit first, just a direction, I'm sure we"ll be farther north, we'll head south in the winter, having lived in phoenix a while back, I know just how hot it is. Will just enjoy getting away from reno, and Nevada all together.. We have gone on so many review sights etc. just wanted any ones take on the area in general Thanks!!
Yea. I don't plan much. it's too disappointing if WE don't meet our spot! ha I'm at the point where I want to be more free spirited. Happy Day to ya!!!!!!!
Hi, we also will head that way, seems to be a popular spot. We don't need all the amenities just a peaceful spot to enjoy for a wee bit, and check out the area, I'm sure its grown since I've been, "83". will be fun to see..
I sure enjoyed AZ much better than the SE states; triple H's. It wasn't very difficult to change your seasons in Az.; just drive about 250 miles from the desert in the summer and you are in comfortable temperatures; especially in Showlow; Snowflake and Greer; almost forgot about Page. Then in the Winter Phoenix area; Tuscon; Yuma or Quartzite!

We spent part or all winter in AZ for about 8 years. We stayed in the Coyote Ridge RV park in Bouse - about 25 miles from Quartzsite and about the same from Parker. No amenities but inexpensive ($160 per month with metered electricity extra).
Real friendly people and out of the hustle and bustle of Quartzsite but close enough to drive in for lunch or dinner.

We lived in Tucson 14-years and would travel to Flagstaff and Prescott to escape the heat in the summer. Flag is at 7000 ft. elevation and Prescott is at 5,200 ft. It makes a "big" difference from Phoenix which is at 1,200 ft. elevation. Look at the average temps June-Aug and you will see a 10-15 degree difference. Prescott has some good history as well being it was the first capital of AZ.
We have certainly enjoyed the last 2 winters in AZ, arriving in either late Oct or early Nov and then heading north by the end of March or early April. We were considering south Texas for next winter but have talked ourselves out of that, we have really enjoyed AZ, still have places we want to visit so we'll be heading back there again in early November this year.
We figure Arizona is a starting point, and yea, so many things to see, plus my husband love the heat, good spot for him. After that, well time will tell.
We tried the RGV one winter. Too much blowing dust, plus no concerts, no higher end restaurants, limited shopping, 2 trips across the border were more than enough. Just not enough to do.

Everyone should try multiple snowbird locations and decide for themselves. Too many will find a spot that seems to suit them and plant each year, maybe missing the best match. Plus, people are different. Some people are happy to be able to watch TV and play cards with friends for entertainment and some do not mind driving 30 miles one way once a week for shopping (Quartzsite). Others want to hike, explore scenic spots, go to concerts, eat out, 4--wheel, or go to museums for entertainment, plus want the stores close by and maybe a wide variety of stores. We fall more into the active camp with closer stores, so Mesa AZ and Fort Myers FL, are our preferred winter spots. We have tried many other parts of Florida, Arizona, Texas and southern California. They did not suit us as well, but others disagreed and that is normal.

We do not need all the amenities, and have no problem driving a lil bit for groceries, just not into shopping, or fancy things, simple and quaint suits us pretty well, so yea, we are all different. Having spent the past 14 years in one spot,( going out of our minds), don't think we'll be static much. I'm thinking maybe 3 mo. at a time would be our comfort zone, but then again, who knows what will be good for us. anyway, just can't say enough how wonderful this feels, and love chatting with you all!!
Prescott does get rather warm June-August. It was 87 degrees in Prescott Valley today (10 miles from Prescott) so Prescott was around 84 degrees. Are you looking for full hookups? If not you could stay at some of the local State/Federal Campgrounds. We usually head up Mingus Mountain (6930') to the Potato Patch Campground to enjoy cooler temps. I'll include a couple of links.
Hi Mark, thanks for the info. We do want full hook ups, but i'm sure at some point, a dry camp , a day or two will fit in. I know Prescott area does get hot, here in reno right now is 90, which DH is loving. He has bad arthritis, and having cold winters, he so welcomes the heat, if he had his way , think we'd be right dab in the middle of no where, heat and all! ha anyway, Love the in put. michele

Some of the links I sent are full hookups. Most have potable water and electricity too. I actually prefer the warmer temps too, that's we are trying to sell our home in Prescott Valley we are tired the wind and cold weather. Hope you find a great place to camp.
