Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Hello! My name is Chez (28), from NY - 25 miles north of Manhattan. My husband Martin (38) and I are buying an RV this month and plan to boondock and test everything from outside the house we have been wasting our money on for about a month or until we have everything sorted and ready to park it somewhere.
We basically want to stay parked most of the time, hes a photo/videographer and I clean apartments and offices so for work home base is important. We will need a reliable power source, but want complete boondocking capability for a week or more when we will travel. I know we will need help figuring out which AGM batteries and solar panels. We have family in Florida and friends in Mexico and want to do cross country to California and see Canada too.
Parking in the city streets is something we probably wont ever do because of the hassle. Been scanning Craigslist and it seems there are many private driveways and garages in all boroughs of nyc for rent around $200 month. We're pretty open to a creative situation, were hoping to find something like that where we can plug in while at home. Not sure on where we will be able to dump yet though in this area.
Since we both havent had much experience with RVs other than being guests on family rigs, and that was in the past and neither have theirs anymore so we thought it would be a good idea to look for a resource to help us getting started with our new adventure. I stayed up way past my bedtime last night reading for hours many topics in here. Seems to be a fun friendly place and I look forward to meeting you online and maybe irl on the road some day! Thanks for reading my post :)
