Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Hello!

Hello New Friends!

We are so glad to meet you and so happy to be here. We are Bo and Rachael and we are soon-to-be-full-timers.

I still work but Bo is retired. We are avid mountain bikers and have determined that the mountain-biking mecca (LOL) of north Texas no longer feeds our fire. About three months ago, we decided to relocate to Arizona to support our habit. We planned to build another home and figured it would take about a year to make that happen. But we’ve started getting restless, so we considered going now and renting while we find our location. However, we quickly determined that we don’t really want to rent. So, slowly, the idea of full-timing started to materialize. At first, we thought we would buy an RV and explore to find our land and then start building. But we realized that with an RV we can actually full-time; we don’t have to limit ourselves or make any quick decisions. Now the plan is to full-time around the western states for the next year or so, try my hand at working from the road (I already work from home almost exclusively), and ride bikes until we burst or break. At that point, we’ll decide if we want to continue life on the road, settle down and build the next home, or continue with a little bit of both.

This is an incredibly exciting time for us and while we don’t have any real defined timeline, we both think sooner is better. But no matter how restless, we won’t rush or settle;  we’ll go just as soon as everything comes together – namely selling the house, getting rid of all the stuff and finding that fifth wheel (and truck).

Well, that’s our story. We look forward to getting to know you, hearing about (and learning from!) your experiences and sharing ours.

All the best!

Rachael and Bo

Good to meet ya Rachael and Bo.   We have a few years before retirement but are also planning for our next life in a fifth wheel.  Looking forward to finding some nice trails to ride sounds like a wonderful idea.

Hey Mark,

Thanks for the warm welcome! We look forward to hearing about your experiences as you prepare. Even though we're "ready" to go, we have a lot to learn. It's mind boggling! Although I hope it won't take too long, I guess it could be years before we actually hit the road. Option paralysis is very real for us :)

Take care!

Rachael

'Welcome folks,

If you've even 'lurked' here for a while, which many do, you'll find an unbelievable amount of information on so many different subjects.  And there are a ton of ways people are full-timing, part-timing, and those planning to launch.  We, personally, are retiring and taking off the end of July and can't wait.

But if you have a question, you're gonna find lots of people that can provide input from their various experiences.  I can honestly say I learn something new about every time I come here.

So, good luck on your planning and happy future trails.

Thank you, Paul and Kim. Lurking might be an understatement. We've been following Howard and Linda's blog off and on for probably eight years - we're probably closer to stalker status at this point :) But, for some reason, I don't think I knew there was a forum. So glad we found y'all though. This group seems to be the friendliest, most knowledgeable group of folks out there. We are looking forward to learning from everyone here and sharing our experiences, too.

Congratulations on your upcoming departure! That is so exciting. If you'll be posting about it here, I'll look forward to following your journey as you plan for the big day and get underway!

Best,

Rachael

Thank you Trailerking and Anna (and your Yorkie!). We are so glad to be here. And we are looking forward to hearing about your adventures, too. (Right now our adventures consist of prepping a house for sale and wading through endless info about RVs and purchasing :) )

Welcome! We have been FT for almost 2 years, I have the corporate work from home job, hubby is an artist, we've just moved him to a semi-retired status, allowing us to move less frequently, giving us time to explore areas we enjoy for a longer period of time. you'll find a lot of info on this site.

Like you, our original plan never involved full time RV'ing, we were just planning to downsize and over a few months, after lots of research, that evolved into full time RV'ing. We stay primarily in the West, winters in AZ, spring and fall in CA and summers in the Pacific NW. We're not mountain bikers, but enjoy long bike trails, really starting to enjoy a lot of the rails to trails conversions.

See you out there!!

Holy cow, Ruth, it sounds like you and your husband are living *exactly* the life we're planning! I am more than a little envious :) We'll probably spend most of our first year in AZ, WA and ID (and maybe CA - I'm from CA, family is still there, but so much more to see elsewhere!).

And aren't rails to trails so cool???
