Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Need suggestions ASAP, please!

We are in the process of planning our travels toward the end of July through August.  You see, my second cousin (who is 18) is flying from Spain to the U.S. for the very first time in his life to meet family.  DH and I will be on the East Coast then, so we are having him fly direct from Madrid to Newark.  The problem is, we have NO IDEA where to camp.  We will need to be where we can get to/from New York for a few days, but immediately after picking him up we are headed to Buffalo to visit the Niagara Falls area.  Later, we will head south toward Atlantic City where camping will be easier to find.  However, in the meantime, can someone please make suggestions?  None of the state parks have any hook-ups and with a third person in the house (rig), hook-ups would be nice.  Many thanks!

You are the second person today I have heard is looking for a rv park close to NYC. :) The one that I am aware of is Black Bear Campground in Florida, NY. The rv park is about 40 miles from the city and 15 miles from the train station in Harriman.

Actually, the "other person" you are referring to is sitting right beside me!  We are traveling together and are putting out an APB for help!  Not a camper-friendly place to visit, for sure!  Thanks for the input.  All suggestions continue to be welcomed!

We haven't stayed there; but, a friend said they stayed at Liberty Harbor RV in Jersey City when they toured that area with an RV Caravan. Public transport available to New York City. Might give you a place to start. Good Luck.

Here is a link to rvparkreviews about Liberty Harbor RV park mentioned before. Considering the location, I think the reviews are not that bad. People can't expect conditions like in a national park there.

Jo and Craig, if it wasn't Liberty Harbour would really value your sharing where you have found close to NYC, as that is where we stayed when we were there last time and would really prefer an alternative if there is anything else available.

Bill and I are traveling with Jo and Craig and we will be staying at Great Divide in Newton. We will be taking the train from Dover into the city.

Thanks again everyone for the suggestions.

Just a question... Have you looked up the review of the park. It doesn't sound like a place I would want to go to. Check out what other RVers are saying about the Great Divide Campground.

I have been to Black Bear and it is not to bad. Reviews are not great but better than Great Divide.

If I could post a photo I would give you a couple of ideas.

I did not see those reviews - I had looked at TripAdvisor and they have it rated 4.5 out of 5 stars with 136 reviews. My friend lives near there - I will have her check it out for us! Thanks for the heads up!
