Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
I'm an Amazon shopping junkie. How does everyone deal with ordering online or receiving packages from family? We buy everything online, dog food, clothes, etc....Will this have to stop?
We use Amazon Prime for most of our shipping, it's just a matter of making sure you place your orders when you are somewhere you can receive mail. Just takes a bit more planning, but definitely can be done. For us it's much simpler than trying to find the local areas to shop.
Unless you're buying things like dog food or something you'll use up, you'll soon find that your RV is overflowing with your purchases. You don't have much place to store extra "stuff" in an RV. You may have to rethink your shopping habits.

Thx...our dogs have allergies so we get special food for them that is much cheaper on Amazon. What do you use as your address? I'm still confused as to how to set up mail.
Definitely! We're just now packing all our stuff and giving stuff away. I'm disabled so I shop for clothes and personal items. We're purging everything. Our RV has no room for knick knacks and the like lol
We've purchased things a number of times from Amazon as well as from a couple other companies and received things from family, using our park address as a shipping address. We just checked with the park office. That's only been private parks, rather than state or other public parks. I think Howard and Linda have gotten things sent general delivery to a post office near where they were going to be. Maybe one of them will speak up about that.

Just pick a place that you are going to be for a week or so, check with the office - in most cases UPS/FedEx deliver right to your site. Or if it is small have it sent to General Delivery at the post office in a small town near you. Really not a problem with just a little planning.

As others have said you usually can have mail and packages sent to the RV Park you're staying in or to the local post office. Not all post offices accept general delivery, so call or check online first. I believe general delivery will hold mail for up to 30 days then send it back to sender.
The only problem with Amazon Prime shipments is when you are in a rural area with different addresses for Fedex/UPS delivery and USPS and/or general delivery. There is NO way of knowing which way your item will ship when placing the order. Not a rant but just want to point out what could be a problem. That said I still use Amazon Prime for most of my online purchases.
Most of the rv parks we have been at so far.. ups delivers right to the site..
I do a ton of ebaying.. in and out.. But still close to a relative, and have it all shipped there..
as we get further away.. I suppose I will just specify ups, and have it delivered to me at the rv park.. We do get a mail slot here as well.. don't use it though..
