Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Liked your ramblings... my suggestion, I'd use a slightly larger font for your text, easier to read. FWIW

How do you do a Blog? Is it free or do you have to pay like a domain and website?

I like your blog. I'll add it to my list. I'm waiting to see what you have done this last month.

Trailerking - Blogspot is completely free. It is part of Google as is the Picasa photo software I use. Google+ is my cloud storage for photos. I've tried to stay in the same family of companies to minimize compatibility issues.

Blogspot allows you to grow and customize as you learn. Thus far I have been able to find every feature I wanted with a little searching.

Free is a very good price. With it's "one click" features you can instantly post to Facebook or other social media.

Give it a try, you'll like it.

Bernie,

Depending on how you do it, it can easily be free.  I'm not an expert, but I've learned from some of the others here.  There are a couple of different blog hosting sites that seem to be the most common.  Below is a link to a Google search result at which there are a few "comparisons" between Blogspot and WordPress.  I started out with Blogspot, but changed over to WordPress.  I think I like it better.

Blogspot vs WordPress

When I started, I first had a request to bloggers to fix their blogs where I could comment, even though I didn't have my own blog.  That discussion then evolved into what to do to start a blog.  You might start there to see what a number of the folks here told me.

For Those with Blogs - A Request

You might also use the "Search" button above the forums and type in "blogs" to get a few more threads on RV Dreams about the topic.

If one can still get it, download a copy of Windows Live Writer.  It helped me a lot with doing the blogging, but I may do things differently than others.  I start out by creating a rough draft in Microsoft Word for each entry.  In doing that, if I have a spot where I want to put an image, I label that spot with the file name for that image.  Using Word allows me to use the spell and grammar checking feature.  Live Writer has a spell check, but I've not found it to have a grammar checker.  Once I have a satisfactory draft in Word, I copy and paste it into Live Writer, which is where I choose the font style and size and insert any links and images.  Once done with that, the push of one button uploads the blog entry to my blog.

If you decide to do this, good luck.  I've enjoyed it, but I'm not at all much at getting posting done.  But, that's an "operator problem."

Terry
