Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

New member and hopefull full-timer in the future

Hi everyone. Looking forward to learn a lot from the folks here about moving to a full time RV'er life style. Wife and I have made the decision it is what we want to do as soon as I am able to retire(3 years). Want to enjoy all this country has to offer while young and healthy enough to do it!

Welcome, and I wish you the best with your plans. But, beware, after reading these forums, you may want to cut the time frame down. Our four year plan went to a two year plan very quickly. We plan to hit the road in late 2016.

Mike

Welcome Dhshaw!  Mike is correct....You may end up leaving sooner!  We were same as you in having a 5 year plan 2 years ago, and now we're planning on going in 2016 :)    It just has a way of hooking you!  Good luck in your plans though and you're in the right place!

Welcome and ditto here as well!! We were originally 2016....But....six months after our decision in June of 2013, we purchased a RV and six months after that, house was sold and we were living in the RV!! Sort of did things a little differently as we didn't want the sale of our house standing in way of our departure, so put it on the market thinking it may take awhile to sell, but it didn't. So, have been wrapping up work stuff and will be officially on the road very soon!! If you can swing it, highly recommend one of the RV-Dreams educational rallies. Great info and a great opportunity to meet lots of cool people!!

Hand me a life jacket and a paddle, dhshaw, we're in the same boat.  Glad to have you with us.

We have a great group of folks here. Many of us also visit the Escapee forum (http://www.rvnetwork.com/) as there is lots of good info over there as well.

Are you thinking of keeping your current rig to start or trading up for your new adventure?

Thanks for all the warm welcomes!
Ours is still a 3 year plan at the earliest depending on what health insurance costs will be at that time. Would love to start sooner, but it is not in the cards. We do try to take a nice 2 to 3 week trip every year presently. This year we will be taking our second trip to the Black Hills of South Dakota. Late August to mid-September.
Again, thanks to all for the warm welcome.

Dave

Welcome!!! Your timeframe is similar to ours.  We were originally looking at 2022 but the more we looked the easier it became to go sooner (2019smile). Knowledge is power. Since you have reiterated your target date/timeframe, I'll assume you have already crunched numbers. I would only suggest you look outside the "box" before you rule out an earlier FTing start date.  We had just about locked up our plan to go in 2019, but then a creative solution recently appeared and we are working through options for a possible start in late 2017 now. We still have some hurdles to figure out... but not ruling ideas out without checking them out is the order of the day. In the end, however, you  must be comfortable with "your" plan... not mine or anybody elses. Good luck and let the good times roll!!
