Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Crystal Sugar beet harvest

I am wondering if anyone has done the beet harvest job as a workkamper? Also wondreing if any women have done it? I was thinking it would be a great way for both of us to make some quick cash. We are from Minnesota so we know what the weather is like there at that time of year. Thanks for any input!

I did a little work on a farm in ND last fall. I sent him a note and will let you know what he says.

Here is a link to the blog post of Al and Karen, Rv Dreamers who attempted the Beet Harvest. http://wishuponanrvstar.blogspot.com/2012/10/they-beet-me.html

They are great, hardworking folks and I am sure if you contacted them, they would be glad to tell you what they know.

Just read their "beet story".  What a nightmare.  Weather up there at that time of year is very unpredictable and having worked outdoors in those conditions myself with the railroad gives me the authority to say not again. It's very hard on you and definitely unsafe and with heavy machinery running around... doubly so. Sure it could have been nicer weather and the equipment could have run without a hitch and thus the experience been a better one... but I can live without that kind of "adventure". Thanks, but no thanks. I'd go look for workamping in a calmer place. Thankfully we'll have the option of picking and choosing such things, or not.  For those that want or have to.. I salute your fortitude.

Thank you all for your responses and the blog to read. Sounds like it is not really for us.
