Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Very, very new to all of this...and not just RVs

My first attempt to post here failed so I am trying again because that's the only way I'll learn and that's sort of how I feel about joining the RV life.   No experience there either but willing to learn.  Just came from Howard and Linda's workshops in Columbus and they called me their "groupie" because I came to almost every session.  I've been to four RV shows in the past two months and spending way too much time online and at the library getting books and waiting somewhat patiently for spring.  Love snow but the gray days of northern Ohio are not good for me so gearing up to hit the road once my house sells.  Not sure yet if I'll become a full-timer but cleaning out the house and acting as if...

Welcome Elizabeth,

As a former Buckeye I can agree with the gloomy Ohio weather. You are on the right track...go to the seminars, visit the RV shows, attend a rally or two, ask lots of questions, search for answers on this website, and before you know it, you're there.

Good luck,

Dave

Welcome, Elizabeth.

This whole process is really a long, involved learning process, from learning to use the forums to learning what one wants in an RV.  Take your time and look at both RV shows and at RV dealers to see if you find a style of RV that suits you.  The majority of those here have Class A motor homes and fifth wheels, but there are still a number with Class C motor homes and travel trailers.  There's even a couple of Super C's that are built on the large Class 8 truck frames.

There are no dumb questions.  The one dumb ones are those that don't get asked and the individual makes expensive or time consuming decisions without the proper knowledge.  So, ask away to your heart's content.  You can also learn just by reading, and for that, the "Search" feature in the blue bar above the forums is a valuable tool.  In addition, you can ask questions privately of different "users" on the forums by using the "Messaging" feature.  To find the messaging, click on the user's username and you'll be sent to their profile.  At the bottom of the profile is a link that you can use to send the messages.

Good luck with your research and planning, and we're glad to have you with us.

Terry

Welcome Boxcar. We too are newbies from Ohio. You already have more info than some because you got to go to the workshops, etc...We made our decision after all the shows, etc were over. Great group here. Just joined the group recently and I am lurking here more than facebook lol. Everyone is so open here and you'll learn a lot!! Happy trails and stay safe!

Welcome Boxcar!  Cool bluegrass group with that same name :)  Good luck with your plans and you're on the right place for questions to be answered.  There's a wealth of info here.  Take care.
