Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

FREE campground w/FHU near Houston, TX

Had to share this park.  Spring Creek Park (county park) in Tomball, TX just outside Houston is a hidden gem!  Only 8 RV sites on concrete (large back in RV sites) with grass in between.  FHU, 50amp, showers, bathrooms lots of lawn park like setting with trees about and some sites with a little shade.  Hiking, biking, playground, basketball and tennis courts (all far from the sites), walking trails and a creek.  And it is FREE!!  The sites on the end are the most private and have a nearby picnic table.  No firepits.  There are 3 tent spots on the grass across from the RV sites.

The only downside, other than most of the sites are close together, is that the fenced park's gate is closed and locked from 10p - 6a.  No code, no getting in or out (unless it's an emergency, then call 911).  It's best to call and make reservations.  We are here mid week and there are only 3 rigs here.  It's very quiet at night.

Lots of shopping, gas, propane and restaurants nearby.  AT&T and 4G Verizon reception and cell are excellent.  Pets are welcome.  I'm not sure what the stay limit is but it's at least 1 week.  Very clean park.

Thanks for the tip.  We have friends in Houston we want to someday visit.  Will keep the park in mind.

Very interesting, but raises the question .....Why would a park do this when they could make money with these sites?

Some small towns have free campgrounds hoping you spend money in town.  They often have stay limits or charge you after 3 nights or so.   Some do it to have a place for local events, but think the administrative cost of charging and keeping records costs more than just making it free.  I am surprised a town close to Houston would do it, but they must have their reasons.

This is in Harris County Precinet 4. Harris County commissioners compete with each other to see who can provide the most in the way of free services. Several have large busses that take seniors on free trips. Others provide different services. This is a nice park and not over used. Do make reservations

Glad to know about this. Coming from Austin to Lake Charles, Louisiana in mid April, we want to stop for a day or two to visit daughter and family who lives south of Houston in Pearland. Gotta have to check this out. Thanks

I usually check for county/city parks just in case.  Especially if we're going to be near a larger city.  They are usually fantastic.  Sometimes pricey, but this time FREE!  I don't know why, see comment below.  There are only a few spots though, so I'd call for resos.  There are only a couple that are real close together, but most are ok.  Again, not real spacious, but not worse than many private parks.  And again, FREE.

Thanks for sharing this.
We have friends in Houston and are going to visit them later this year. Now we know where to stay since their driveway is not an option.

Look at it on google satellite too and you'll get a good idea of the layout.  Again, remember you CANNOT get back in after 10pm!!  No code, LOCKED UP!  You can't park outside and climb in either.  Nothing bad, just want to make sure you're aware.  It was a fantastic place!!
