Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Hello. I have read on more than one occasion that used RVs in general may cost less in certain regions than others, I assume because they are more plentiful. I was wondering if others have found this to be true and where. Are there any areas in particular where we might look? Like the southwest, southeast, Texas, etc.? We will be in the market for a four-season 5th wheel. I was just curious what others' experiences in this regard has been.
I use to hear that Yuma was a good place to get a deal on a gently used RV. The reason given was... snowbird couples go to Yuma and stay for the winter. One of the couple passes away and the other gets rid of the RV. Don't hate me, that what I was told by several folks.
Now days many of the large RV dealers have shoppers countrywide looking for great deals on used RVs. One guy we camped with was a buyer for La Mesa RV and his territory was Central and Southern California. He searched classified ads for deals and then would inspect the RV and let his boss know the details. His boss would contact him back and let him know what price range to offer. Once bought he would transport the RV to the nearest La Mesa RV lot.
Point is some the good deals will be snapped up by the RV dealers.

I would compare price with PPL Motorhomes. They are fair market value. Not saying necessarily buying from them but getting price.

I imagine it has to do with transport fees from where they are built?
also, Supply and demand.. If there are a ton of new or used sitting on the lot in a area.. your likely will get a good deal..
In vegas, as example.. there where not many new cars at one point.. so the dealers where charging sticker.. and getting it. I shopped by email, in 3 states.. and picked up my Jeep rubicon in phoenix..Had to drive to get it.. but saved alot.

RVT.com is a site that you can search by region as well. The prices fluctuate by season and region. Low in the wintery north, high in the southern winter.
We had a very good experience with RV Trader. We searched for months. When we were ready, we had a good idea of prices around the country. We lived in CA in 2014 and bought our new 2013 trailer in Michigan. We bought our new 2013 truck in Illinois. We got a great price on both and both were wonderful to work with. Totally happy, no problems or regrets.

We used rvtrader.com. We drove 1,000 miles (one way) for our first rig, and drove 300 miles for our current rig. Take the listing from RV Trader with you and work from that at another dealer.
