Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

A definite Gonna Be just waiting for retirement to kick in

I am not quite a gonna be, we have owned a Class C RV  for 2 years and sold it 2 years ago to venture in real estate. Well, we are gonna to be for now.  We did take a month and toured the US. This is when LeVere and I decided to do the full time when we retire.  LeVere and I are from Cumberland, Maryland and work full time for now. We own our home and1 rental property and hopefully we will own our 2nd rental in a few months. We plan on workamping for myself and LeVere will be working as corporate nurse, if need be. We do have a few more years to go, wish it was right now though. I am hitting the internet real hard learning as much as I can. RV-Dreams site really put things in prospective. Learning how to Full time in advance will be a big help and a cost planner and saver. Just in the last couple of days I discovered things from workamping to financial to insurance of all kinds and health issues. We plan on a Class A diesel pusher between 39 to 42 feet not quite sure what make and model, still have several years to figure it out. Traveling around the country in a 32 foot Class C with 3 people pretty much convinced me to a much larger rig. smile

Welcome GhostRider.

Grab a paddle my friend, as we are in the same boat. We've chosen a truck and trailer for our FTing rig. We've traveled from coast to coast in a little Aliner, so just bout anything is a step up for us. We bought the truck we will be using to FT a little early, cause I found exactly what I was looking for and got too good a deal to pass up. We've decided on a travel trailer for our FT adventure over a fiver, but like yourself, we're still researching. As of today we have 3yrs, 6 months, 3 weeks, and 6 days to go - but who's counting?

Steven and LeVere,

Welcome to the RV Dreams forums.  You are very wise to research in advance, and this is a great site because the knowledge base in the folks here is astounding.  Plus, Howard and Linda's journal and other articles are informative as well.

Be sure and also research your "planned-for" full-time lifestyle.  For instance, if you plan to move fairly often, a motorhome is an excellent choice.  On the other hand, should you decide to travel to an area and spend longer periods of time in that area to see all the attractions that interest you, perhaps a towable like a fifth wheel or travel trailer would suit the lifestyle more.  Jo and I have lived in our fifth wheel for over 3 1/2 years now, but we don't move much, so for us, a fifth wheel was best.  It doesn't need to be driven regularly to "keep things working."  While we aren't traveling in the RV yet, when we do, our plans are to stop in an area for 3 to 6 months (or more) and see what interests us before moving on to a new area.

However one does it, and as Howard has stated, there is no wrong way to RV.

Have fun with the research and planning.

Terry

Welcome Ghostrider! We too are in the same boat you are, to a certain degree. I'm 52 and my wife is...well, I'm not allowed to say, but we have been retired for 2 years now. We have settled down here in Las Vegas, but with two military sons on opposite ends of the country, we're never home, so we're taking the plunge and going full-time. We're still in the research stage, however I know we want a diesel pusher in the 40+ foot range. We still have about 6 months or so to get everything in order. We're leaning towards the Ellipse, Phaeton, Thor and Meridian models, but we are still in the early stages though. We're very excited, and nervous, about the whole venture, but knowledge is power. The more we research the more comfortable we get with our decisions and planning. Good luck and enjoy these forums!

Like to thank everyone for the warm welcome, I notice it is a friendly RV forum and I have taken away a lot of great information from here and I really appreciate the efforts everyone here has put in. I wanna tell y'all right now I have the most incredible case of RV fever you have ever seen. We want to leave right now, this very moment. I can tell ya we will be Full Timing within 3 to 4 years if not sooner.smile

Methinks you have some serious competiton for that claim.  We've have had  the fever for about 2 years now, and the RV docs say it will take us another 4 to regain some semblance of the new "normal" condition much described as "full timing"biggrinbiggrinbiggrinconfuse

Welcome to the intensive care wardbiggrin
