Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
I am a single 40 something year old female and I know that I want this lifestyle. I have two boys born in 1999 and 2000, and even though I am not with their father anymore, we are still the best of friends, I even work for him now. With my boys being older, I want to buy either a used Class A or a 5th wheel w/ toy hauler. I have been lurking on this site, and many others for about 3 years now, and I finally registered here. I am hoping to learn all I can, and ask a lot of questions.
Even though I have never had an RV, I have traveled the US since I was 16 in cars extensively. I am now getting older, and so are my boys, and I just want to purge and get out of the rat race! I have learned that I just don't want to keep up with the Joneses nor do I need hardly anything anymore. The ex still does, and I am happy for him, but I wont do it any longer.
I am certified in Reiki, Life Alignment and other spiritual healing modalities. I love everything outdoors, Scuba, Wakeboarding, water sports, 4 wheeling, Golf, snow skiing, hiking, rappelling, etc...
I went through a spiritual awakening in Dec 2011 and I am wanting a change in my life and my surroundings. I don't care where I go, I just want to go go go.
I don't know what I want out of life, all I know is that, I do know what I don't want!
After I buy my new traveling home, I plan to park it at the local KOA and live there. I called them and they said it is $300/month. I am hoping that my ex will let me continue working for his construction company doing the books. It can be done!! Then me and my boys will take it on short term trips like to Galveston, Austin, Corpus, Louisiana, etc... for the weekends. Then when the summer comes, I would like to go farther - like Montana or Yellowstone maybe. These are some of my short term plans to just get the feel of it and see if it is a lifestyle that I could handle and do. I will rent out my home, so if I don't like it then I can move back in, but if I do like it, then I will sell it!! I am excited and scared all at the same time! I am hoping this plan will come to fruition by April 2015.
Well, I could go on a lot more, but this is just a small introduction of me!

Welcome to the family! You might go to the KOA and double check on what you get for $300. It probably doesn't include electricity and KOA are not known to be inexpensive, they are a vacation spot right off the highways. There are parks where $300 + elect. are available though. Not trying to be negative, just informative.
Welcome Brooke S! It sounds as if you know what you want, and don't want, out of life. My wife and I can relate to some of the things that you wrote. We have travelled quite a bit all over this country, 99% of it by car, visiting all but 4 or 5 states. We are in our early 50's and retired and this summer we're looking at selling the house and purchasing a new 40+ foot diesel-pusher and going full-time. We have two sons in the military on opposite ends of the country. As it is now we are seldom at our house, so the way we're looking at it is why not take our house wherever we want to go? We've never gone RV'ing before, however we have camped quite a bit and have talked about the RV lifestyle for 20 years now. Now that we have the perfect situation to take the leap, why not? We're still in the early research and planning stages, but we are excited to get going. Our life for the most part has always been on the road and when we are home we ask each other when should be making a trip somewhere. So even though I'm also a "newbie" on here...welcome!
