Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

New and planning our RVing...

Howdy All!  Thanks for the add!

My husband and I are planning our retirement.  Hoping to find lots of good information on this site.  Any good topics for the added costs of motorcycling?  That will be in our plan.

Thanks!

Merry

Welcome Jeff and Merry.  Though I can't address your motorcycling question, what you will find is all kinds of RVers in all shapes and sizes (guess I could be talking about RVs and people).  But an absolute ton of information, lots of people with many experiences and expertise.  Also, try the Search link on the bar above.  That may also get you where you need to be.  If not, just ask.  Oh yeah, you just did that.

But again, welcome.

Welcome Jeff and Merry! You will find a lot of useful information from newbies and seasoned veterans. I know there are a couple of motorcycle RVers out there, I am sure you will get the information you are looking for.

What kind of bike (s) do you plan on taking with you? How will you be hauling them? Also how do you plan on using them, just for recreation or as a replacement for a toad?

Welcome to the forums. We just got starting with our planning as well. Lots of friendly and informative folks here.

Sorry I can't provide any information on the added cost while on the road. I'm not sure of any added cost of a 5th wheel toy hauler but seems like a good route to go. My friend double tows his bike in an enclosed trailer behind a 40' fifth wheel.

I've been checking into the idea of owning a 5th wheel/truck and having a second vehicle to drive when we are parked, rather than the truck. Some folks do this and suggest the added cost is minimal because of the fuel they save not driving the big truck for their every day vehicle. I assume they stay in one place long enough to justify it. We are selling our bike next year because we hardly use it (we are not retiring to an RV for some time). Personally, if having a bike was part of our travel plans I'd just figure out how to fit it in the budget. I know the couple that started this forum keep a second vehicle. Somewhere they have posted about their decision to do this but I'm having trouble finding the link.
